I'm getting ready to replace the rests on two of my bows.
Wondering what everyone prefers and why.
Both of these bows have very thin rests with hair on them (I don't believe they are seal skin, but are similar). My preference is for the thicker rests like velcro. But would like to hear what others prefer before I slap velcro on'em.
I like the velcro rests when I shoot off the shelf.
velcro for this boy (for the rest), I often choose a thinner material for the side plate).

Velcro.
I prefer sealskin but velcro works just as well and is readily available.
I like velcro for the rest and use seal for the side plate.otter works good too.
Sealskin is pretty slick. I use it on my rest and nothing on my side plate.
I like moleskin
Velcro Doesn't hold dirt from stump shooting and then make a noise drawing.
I really like the old "bear hair" style rug rests, but they soak up water really badly. For that reason, if there's any chance the bow is going in the woods, it gets Velcro.
Velcro

Industrial Velcro....quiet, durable, available, consistent, easy to replace and cheap.
I like velcro off the shelf but if a bow can take a feather rest that's what I prefer. I just tend to shoot better from an elevated rest.
I like smooth leather, but velcro will work as well.
Velcro most of the time, except on my NM Classic, where I use calf hair due to the minimal shelf.
Velcro on shelf, beaver tail for side plate.
Beavertail for side plate and rest for me. Ken
Velcro for me as well
Velcro can't be beat . I have used lots of material and none beat it .
Stingray hide.
Toughest leather ive ever used.
rug on the shelf beaver tail for the side plate
I use Velcro, leather, etc but my favorite ever is calf hair. Beavertail is nice too.
Sealskin or beaver tail for me
My buddy has been using zebra skin. Works well anmd looks good too.
bear hair
I like Calf Hair.
What ever is silent. If I replace my shelf material or side plate and hear any noise when I draw it comes off. Rug or leather work best for me.
Velcro.
What Friend said.
I use deer hide

IMO the best rest material is one that you can use to do final fine tuning for correct arrow flight and your desired point of impact. Other than that it is just something on your bow
