I've been trying to tune my longbow: 46# @ 28". I'm using Gold Tip 35 - 55, full length, 50g. brass insert, 125 g field point. The fletched and bare shafts hit in the same place, about 8" to the right and 6" high. Do I need to:
raise the nock point
raise the brace height
increase insert to 100g
put a thicker pad on the sight window
all of the above?
I think my first move will be to raise the nock point again. Beyond that, I don't know.
i am also tuning some 3555 to my bow and will be starting athread on it soon because i have some questions as well...
but anyway, If i understand you correctly, your bareshafts are 8" right of your fletched shafts? That indicates weak so you would need to drop your point weight, not increase it. Perhaps a 100 gr field point.
If the bareshfts are high of your fletched shafts then raise the nock point.
What's your draw length? What string do you have on it?

Oh yeah, make ONE change at a time!
I started where you are (50 gr inserts and 125gr tips) and i was way weak.

Shoot fletched arrows with field tip and broadhead of same weight, if hit same place your tuned. Some bows do not shoot where your looking. Grip style, amount of center shot and tiller can have major effects.
To change right impact build out window with thicker pad and retune, you will need stiffer dynamic spine so expect to shorten shaft.
Thank you, Katman.
