Hey guys I'm wanting to foot my 75/95 GT trad shafts. I used Charlie L's footing chart for sizing. I couldn't get the foot to slide over the carbon shaft. Am I doing something wrong, do I need to do a little sanding first or iss this style of foot a press on application?
Thanks
Cory
How did you cut the footing? May need to debur the inside of the aluminum to get it to slide over the carbon.
What Taterhill said makes a big diff.
Are your shafts woodgrain?
What size shaft did you use for footing?
Yep used a tool to deburr used the 2219 alum shaft. They are the wood grained carbons.
Actually,the aluminum sizes on Charlie's chart,fot 55/75 and 7595's are reversed.
2219 has a smaller I.D. than 2216.
A 2219 with an I.D. of .3058 should work better for 55/75.
The 2216 with an I.D. of .3118 is larger and a better fit for the 75/95.Gold Tip lists the 75/95 diameter at .311.
There is a glitch in the footing chart, concerning these two shaft sizes.
Thanks I wondered if that wasn't the case guess I'll see if I can find a 2216
Thanks Cory
Walmart has been sellng black ones in the sporting goods sections around here...
I had a 2219 Easton shaft so I cut it into 1 1/2 inch long pieces and put them over the front of some carbon you do have to debur the inside of the cut pieces to have them slid over the shaft.
Easton 400 spine carbons and it worked very well for adding weight and also for just stumping, with a blunt on the front of the arrow. No more broken arrows when stupming.
Thanks for the heads up Jim. I'll make an edit on the chart.
List edited. Thanks again.
Okay Charlie, how do I get to your list?
Thanx
Zbone, here ya go.

No problem Charlie.I should have done it sooner.
Thanx Butch...
I think I have one for ya to add to your list Charlie:
2117 over Vapor Carbonwood 3000s...
I think the 2117s work over the 4000s too, but will verify tonight or whenever I get the chance... Been messing with shafting and footings the past couple weeks or so, so everything is real handy.

Took some time last night and measured some carbon shaft diameters.
Although I don't believe they are no longer being manufactured, but for those who have them, the Blackhawk Vapor Carbonwoods 3000s and 4000s have the same outside diameter of around .293" and 2117 slide perfectly over for footing. I say around because the textured wood pattern makes it hard to receive a true reading, but anyhow the 2117s work nicely on both Carbonwoods, as do they for 3Rivers Easton Traditional Only 500 shafting of outside diameter of around .292".
Easton Traditional Only 400s are a little thicker with outside diameter of around .303", and although they can be forced inside a 2117, the 2219s or 2216s would work.
Easton Traditional Only 600s are a lot skinnier and measure around .275, and although I didn't have any aluminum shafting adequate for that size, I know they will not fit inside 2018s.
I just put some 2117 footing on 35/55 shafts. After deburring the alum pieces, I had to gently bump the leading edge of the shaft and then they slid on with out force. Just used a fine grit wet/dry sandpaper and no force on the carbon. you couldn't see any burr but there was just enough to hang; now it's a snug fit.
I used for years the 2117 over GT black shafts...all sizes.
I also learned that the reloading debur tool didn't quite cut it for the rear of the over-footing.
Using a sander, I get a far more gentle taper for the rear section that slides up over the shelf... made a huge difference---eliminated that annoying 'bump'.
anyone know what size footing I should use for a Bloodsport hunter arrows? They are shoting a .297 OD according to my calculations..
A 2219 has an I.D. of .3057. (closest I could find)
If you need a 2216 let me know I have one I can cut up and mail out to you.
Boy just checked and this is an old thread. Hopefully you found the right shaft.
I think I used a 2314 and it was just about perfect for the trad grain 75/95
thank you fellas,
i am going to see what I can find around my house first.
I did up a set of 55/75 GT and had issues with the 2117 over the carbon shaft as well. Wonder if the trad shafts are a little bigger due to the graphics? I used 2213 which was a nice fit.

2117 will work perfect..... I don't know how much luck you guys have had with these over footings. I know they work great for keeping your carbon from splintering by impacting the inerts.... but i had problems with the arrow snapping off clean behind the footing when using the same length over footing as my brass insert.... I'm having much better luck with shorter over footings.

What is a shorter footing? (1", less than that?)
Footing with 2117 on my 3555 gt trads and 1535s have save many arrows in my family (http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq136/bloodtrailer7/DSC02233_zps18134508.jpg) (http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq136/bloodtrailer7/DSC02237_zps91b16780.jpg)Split the nock NOT the arrow
