Title: what is your hunting setup for the opener
Post by: robslifts on September 29, 2013, 08:23:00 PM
So what is everybody's set up for their first day hunting?  our bow opener is on Tuesday and cant wait.  I will be using a brand new St Joe River Bow That  I just got on Friday.  it is 51@ 28" and pretty smooth shooter. I am using some Cedars that JP Enterprises out of Missouri made for me with some magnus 2 blade broadheads out on front.

I had hoped to go with some new arrows, but alas, best laid plans of mice and men get pregnant!

I'll be using my 47#, double carbon, Sasquatch I got new last year and last year's arrows, GT 7595 with 300 gr. up front using brass inserts and 200 gr. Tusker heads.

Only thing "new" is a string by a chap that makes the Centaur strings, that is quieter than others I've tried!

70" NM Classic 62# @ 29", tapered cedars (green of course) w/160 Grizzly's 650g.

I dunno about the quiver tho, I scored a great deal on a Lone Wolf climber last weekend, so I may be toting that on my back, may have to use the GFA or Arrowmaster.

Dryad Orion 56" Recurve 50# @ 28".

Loaded with Beaman ICS Bowhunter 500s with 100 grain brass inserts and 175 grains of Simmons Tigershark on the pointy end. The arrows will most likely be in my Hill style back quiver rather than the bow quiver though, which now looks decidedly more broken in than it did in this picture.

Morrison ILF aluminum riser recurve, currently at 44# at my draw length.  Sticking with the aluminum theme, I have some Easton 1820s tipped with Magnus Stingers.  And I went back to my faithful Arrowmaster quiver after trying something different for a couple days.

Although I probably won't make it out tomorrow (mom's birthday and it's going to be pretty warm) I had to get it her all ready to go!  60" Tall Tines 50@28.  I have 3 Simmons Tigersharks, 2 VPA 250gr. 1 1/4" 3blds, and 1 thumper.  I like the sharks, but am really digging the VPA's!  I'd have more, but it's not in the cards for me right now.  They certainly sharpen up superbly!

We opened today, and I actually got to hunt!  Didn't see any deer though.  I'm using a bacote Habu Vyperkahn with longbow limbs, Arrow Dynamics Hammerhead lites, and simmons treesharks.  Gonna try one with the treesharks, then might go to the original woodsmans.
