Title: Killed something today
Post by: bowhuntingrn on September 29, 2013, 06:27:00 PM
Unfortunately it was the battery on my car. Long story, but totally my fault. Problem is I didn't discover it until I hit the key to head out for a couple of hours in the woods this evening. Ohwell, at least there's a store across the street that sells adult beverages and football on TV. In the meantime thought I'd share a couple of pics I took yesterday morning before the rains came. It amazes me how bright the pictures look. It was cloudy and so dark in the woods that I couldn't see to shoot until well after sunrise.

And a couple of shots of the blind...that's the top limb of my bow you see sticking up.

Looks like your hunting in the middle of a bunch of Osage bows. Better take your saw next time and harvest a bow for next season.  I will be hunting near the stump of my bow next week. That sucks about your battery but its a long season.

All I killed this weekend was time. Didn't see a deer.

Yeah, definitely a horse apple or 2 fallin' in there. Wind's supposed to be all wrong tomorrow (anything east is bad)so I think I'm gonna go scout a "new area" that I haven't been to in many years. The great thing about the above spot is it's only about 2 miles as the crow flies from the front door.

One thing I learned about Osage is the deer will eat the leaves in a dry year. Not sure if they attract them normally but z few years ago I hunted an area where the deer were heavily using the Osage.  Something to think about in the future for that spot.
