Title: Trilam Bow
Post by: awishanew on September 07, 2007, 07:51:00 PM
I want to make a Bamboo backed Trilam bow. I have thin pieces of hickory and also yew. Which woould be best for the core and belly.
Also, if I make one without bamboo but use hickory for backing, what is a good combination for the belly and core lam? Need help as I don't want to start out wrong.  :)

I've always used the lighter wood for the core. In your case it would be yew.But yew makes a fine belly also.Hickory backed yew makes a nice bow too.As long as you use a good backing any combination of the three should work. Have fun!!
