As I've had an extrodinary run of luck with pigs and I don't want to over stay my welcome here. I also made a poor shot.
I crawled up in a tree this evening and inside of 30 minutes had some does feeding under me. After a few minutes one of the older gals looked out into the woods and grew concerned. I've seen that look before and was pretty sure what was to come.
Sure enough, this boar came drifting through and the deer ran. As soon as the pig got in the clear I shot and he went down. I don't know, the shot was high and spined him. Man, I hate that. I quickly crawled down and moved around for another shot but he kept spinning trying to get up,he wasn't too happy with me! He was popping his jaws and all.. I believe if he could have gotten up he would have made a pass at me..
I could see that I wasn't going to get a broadside shot so this is the second, killing arrow. He died within seconds of this shot.
The first arrow, in the spine was a 185 Grizzly and the second that I pulled out of my quiver randomly was a No Mercy.
I think this yew bow was born to hunt !!

Most excellent Pat! All pig kills welcome here!!
Congratulations Pat! You do know your stuff when it comes to pigs. Keep them coming. Never tire of the pics and stories. That's a fantastic boar.
Excellent job. Congrats!
Pat, You are unreal.
Congrats! Just dont know how you eat all that Pork!
Incredible, congrats again!
Pat, you are Black Death on hogs buddy. You keep posting these pics my friend congrats once again.
Tom
Great job Pat! What were the specs on the gear? Bow weight length, type of arrow?
:campfire:
Please for those of us who don't have pigs to shoot keep on posting! We gotta get our fix from you guys who keep on putting the pork in the freezer!
This site is suppose to be all about bow hunting, so why would you hesitate? Get another one...and post it.
:archer:
Love your posts, no hesitation required here. Imperfect shots happen.
Yew just never know Lucky. Nice effort Pat! One good looking bow too!
I'm getting a little tired of all the pigs down here anyway! They breed faster than rabbits! And what this one did at your feeder they all do. They chase deer out of the county! Boo bad. Tomorrow starts deer season. Hope none mess me up?
Heck no... Trust me I'd usually use more colorful language but this is PG... Keep posting!
Congrats on another great hog! Errant shots happen, but what I perceive from the second is hunter instinct... Meaning you made the most out of a bad situation with a deadly shot at a bad angle, commendable!
You keep doing what you are doing... Number 1, enjoying yourself! And 2 getting out when those of us who are stuck at work or being a full time taxi and ATM to two teenage kids takes up most of the rest of our time.

Pat,
You are pure death on hogs, congrats, and thanks for posting!
Kudos Pat!!!!
Truth be told, Unfortunatly... Bad shot's happen!
I was told long ago. "Take your best shot... But remember, once you draw blood, you're commited!!!"
You made a bad shot, so you followed right up on it. Being as the pig wasn't going to be cooperative... You took what he gave you, and got it done!!!!!
GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!! :clapper:
A little pulled pork anybody? Great job Pat!
Congrats on another beautiful pig down
Hogsbane 100%
Another great job Pat!
Go Pat go! :notworthy:
Congrats on a huge hog!
that second shot is, as the mythbusters would say, "in the butter zone!"
well done
pat , i"m glad you finally got one , i was starting to think you were not going to get a shot and go hungry , good hunting big john
No need to stop Pat, there are plenty of them out there
Another great hog, Pat. Congrat's.
That's a fine boar hog. Congrats!
A critter down is a critter down. A spine shot is actually a pretty clean way to kill an animal... it's just too hard to do intentionally. You know he wasn't getting away to die in a ditch somewhere. Nice job.
Does wild pork taste as good as I've heard? Never had it.
Only way to make it better was if you envited me to join you. That way everyone would get to see a fresh face smiling over one of those hogs. Keep puttin' 'em down!
Brian
Great Job Pat keeep posting

I worry when I go more than a week without a pic of you and something that reminds me of the ex-wife. Congratulations.
Pat....There is very much to be gained by sharing the invaluable unadulterated experiences of an extremely competent and ethical hunter. Even the best experienced hunter will encounter inferior outcomes.
Please consider sharing an unfavorable outcome in order to prepare those that have yet to experience one and for those of us who have had several experiences and remain somewhat in denial. Broadcasting extreme failures could be counterproductive, yet preparedness and acknowledgement is paramount.
Respect for game must be held in the highest regard, yet the reality of an outcome may still fall short.
Your contributions to Trad Gang are most notably worthy.
Thank you....
Pigs are a menace to our other wildlife and in so many other ways. If I had my way I would eradicate them completely. Thanks for doing your part Pat. Keep it up- congrats again.
Way to go Pat! Keep posting your hunts, I always enjoy reading about them!
I love swine stories and that one is a monster
Keep em coming buddy!! So awesome!!
That is taking care of business Pat. Congratulations on a great hog!
And that is a fine looking longbow!
Never get tiered of your hunts. Another good one. Keep them coming.
You're making me want to try a longbow again. Sure looks good on you.
I don't believe hunting stories will ever create an unwelcome audience here. Yours are pretty inspiring.
I have withdrawals Pat when you don't kill one and post. Especially the off season and now when alot of us are waiting for everthing to begin and we're sitting on go. Keep it up as much as you want. I enjoy them. Congrats by the way.
Pat - I love seeing your posts, especially since you're typically using a Hill style bow. Keep 'em coming.
I gotta ask....What do you do with all the pig meat and how many arrows do you go through in a year?
All you can say is wow.
:notworthy:
Great hog, Pat! Please don't stop posting these journey's, I so enjoy them, besides whom would I call the "Pig Master". :wavey:
Nice job! I would have climbed right back up that tree when his jaws started popping!

There are several folks who have "standing orders" for a pig when I get one. With them it's usually just a phone call and they come running.
Of course we keep some.
Pigs are hard on arrows, lol !!!
The bow is the Northern Mist 68" about 61 or so at my draw.. I use the GT 5575's for the most part.
Scott, you are right. Every so often, despite your best efforts things don't turn out the way you would hope.. When that occurs I try to take all I can from the experience and hopefully never repeat any mistakes. Then I file it.
Like you I have had some physical set backs in the last decade that have been life changing and from that I have learned to make every effort not to dwell on things I can not change. I try to be a "glass is half full" person. I'm sure that you know that can be very difficult at times.
Good hunting, all !!
Wow nice pig. You must be sick of bacon by now!
I'd say that was a good 2 shot combo.
Keep knocking them down and sharing. Bad hits happen with ALL hunting tools.
Don't let my envy green complexion keep you from posting your pig hunts, I love em!
nice one, Pat!
Awesome boar Pat!
