Gonna be a balmy 77 degrees at sunrise (and about 90 percent humidity). This is the first year that I have started the season with my longbow. Hope it goes good. Probably aint gonna sleep much tonight. Good luck guys.
Good luck! I won't be able to get out there right away. Too bad it's not like it was a few days ago, that little cool front we had was nice!
Got plans for an afternoon sit, but the weatherman may decide different. Good luck to y'all!
Good luck to you Texas boy's.
Tom
Good luck guys.....I hope you have a great opening weekend and that everyone returns home safely.
Good luck everyone. Sittin in a stand now scouting and hoping a hog shows up. haven't slept the past two nights.
Good luck and have fun!
Had a few beers so I'll sleep just right :)
Looking forward to getting a close shot this weekend... Fingers crossed
Anxious? That's why I always keep handy a bottle of Scotch in case I may see a snake, which I also keep handy.
Good luck men.
Good luck, and be safe. :archer2:
You'll empty your quiver before you get in the stand. Text me the damage pics in the morning bud.
Yep.... It's Time......
Good huntin' fellas! Our season doesn't open til Tues. up here, but my vacation starts when I get off work tomorrow mornin'. :bigsmyl: I'm SUPER STOKED too!!!! May your shots and blood trails be short, and your happiness afield and at your supper tables be long!!!! :archer:
I wish I was hunting today. I need to find some public land, in Texas, next year. I will make the hour drive to Oklahoma next week for my first hunt. Can't wait to test my new selfbow. Good luck everyone!

me too.
Me three. Getting to spend the afternoon hunting with Centex. Both hunting with HH's.
Public land goose egg this morning.
However, at 10:00 am 3 bobcats came down the trail towards me in a hurry. Mom & (2) juniors nearly full grown. The little guys were full of P&V & outraced mom to the tree right beside mine play fighting all the way. The red one (yes red) climbed the adjacent tree with claws racking the bark until he was even height where he looked me directly in the eyes not 10 yards away! Wups! He quickly returned to the ground & outta there leaving mom & bro to fend for themselves. Mom then looked straight at me & hastily left herself. I never even considered shooting them. Don't see cool stuff like this watching Libtard TV!
Staitera I bet that was really cool.Good luck everyone, I hunt in northwest Louisiana I have to wait till next weekend.
Definitely Bob! One of the coolest things I've ever seen! I hunt a lot & have seen very few cats in all these years. Only shot at one in my compound days long ago. These were flawless animals w/black tufts on their ears. Mom appeared gaunt as I imagine she has been taking care of the kids for awhile? That cat was in the next tree at eyelevel with lightning speed! I meant to squench my eyes but had no time. Most animals see human eyeballs & it's later gator, these no exception!
If there is a place that might be better than Texas Angelina, it would have to be the east side in Louisiana. Best luck Bob & others.

And then the rain came...got to make the 20+ min walk back to the vehicle in driving rain...but hey, at least I'm able to do so. I should've known when the squirrels bedded down a little before 9a.m. that it was about to break loose. Think I'm gonna sleep in tomorrow, maybe get out tomorrow afternoon. Good luck to all :)
It's been thunder and lightning in South Texas (Artesia Wells) since around 6:15p. Stalked around barefoot bc my shoes were too loud in the mud - never tried that before but I loved it. Can't get any more silent than bare feet. Put a stalk on a hog around dark but couldn't close the distance. Morning hunt is doubtful with all this rain...
Had a turkey and a porcupine in the tree next to me this morning. Porcupine didnt make it
It was sticky yesterday morning but I got lucky enough to cut an arrow loose!

After a long but easy trailing job, the 150g WW did its job with a quartering away shot.

Nice pig there Aggie!
My kind of blood trail. Nice shootin.
Thanks guys! That's a good start to this season with my new Kempf Trophy Hunter Longbow named "Sugar Mama" cuz my wife had the bow made for me. I told her, Ol' Sugar Mama was sweet to daddy this morning;) I sold my old Trophy Hunter to Pivo and he took his first trad harvest with it last year. Thought he'd like the pics. Wishing my fellow Texan Trad Shooters a Safe and Succesfull season.
Sweet hog Troy. Way to break the ice.
Congrats!
