My wife is 13 weeks pregnant with our first child (we're super excited). We have an appointment on November 1st to determine the sex. I think it'll be a girl, and she says boy.
I told her we should make a bet. If she wins, she gets a gift card to her favorite store. If I win, I get a new-to-me bow. The bow will most likely be used based on the dollar amount we set, but it'll be a fun bet regardless.
Congrats on the baby, and maybe on a bow. There is nothing like fatherhood, enjoy every minute of it.
The cool thing about your bet is that no matter who wins. You will have a future trad bow shooter.
Win win. If youre right you get a bow. And if shes right you get a son. :-)
Just remember that early ultrasounds have been known to be wrong! So don't go whole hog on nesting the room out girl or boy till you are certain.
good luck! always fun to have alittle wager... especially if you win.
Congrats Jeff! It is a win-win situation!
Bisch
I'm with Bisch, either way you win. And let's be real, this is just hoping you can assuage your guilt by winning the bet...you'll buy the bow either way:)
X3 what Bisch said!
:bigsmyl: That's a win/win situation! Congrats to you and your wife on the great news! Now you have another excuse to buy more bows... You have another hunter on the way!
Congrats!

I'm trying to settle down on the horse tradin' now that season is here. We'll see :)
Great news, not the bet, the baby !!!
Congrats..
congrats.
Congrats! May the good lord bless you and your family with good health, happiness, protection, and prosperity!
Well good luck on the bet and here's wishing you 27 more weeks (give or take) of smooth sailing / good health for the mom to be.
That is the most complicated complot I ever saw, for getting a new bow with permission of the wife! Learning all the time here!
But congrats, I keep my fingers crossed it is a girl! :biglaugh:
Congrats, there will be no losers on this bet :goldtooth:
Congrats. Kids are the best. As far as the bet goes, you both win either way! Warmest regards.
Congratulations on pending fatherhood for both of you Jeff!
Now, if memory serves me right, you already have a WTB ad running, right? Guess that bow's outside of the bet.
Oh yeah....can't wait to find out what color arrows for the baby's room!!
Congrats... Sounds like a win, win scenario...
Congratulations TxAg, best wishes for you and your family
Congratulations!!
Fatherhood is the best thing ever, you're gonna love it. It's so funny how it changes how you think about the world.
Best wishes and have fun with it!
Congrats Jeff. Best of luck to you both.
Congratulations - good that you're both excited!
I take it if YOU win, you're going to get a pink bow?
Congrats to you and Mom to be, your whole universe is about to change. Mom's are rarely wrong.
Like in the movie Dances With Wolves..."Good Trade"
Just tell her the Kempf Raven is $200.....and if she wins, you'll give her $300...helluva deal she's getting...ROFF
Thanks for the well wishes. Showed my wife the thread and she laughed...she liked it.
Hey Jeff,
I hadn't read this before I sent you the PM. Man, congratulations! I know an old Aggie down in San Antonio who has some little archery gloves and tabs, arm guards, quivers, etc. that need a home!
Whoop!
We find out tomorrow after lunch. Coincidentally, I sold a couple bows to fund a new Toelke Whip which Dan says should arrive tomorrow. Should be a heck of a day.
That still leaves me with a used bow to buy if I win....we'll see.
You win either way !
Good Luck.
Congrats either way!
Congratulations to You and Your Wife Jeff.
Sounds like tomorrow will be a good day all around!!
Loving the Whip. Liked it so much I bought Bluegoose's also. Never picked up and shot 2 bows so well. Can't tell which grip I like better yet. Rob's was a Classic. Oh well I'll keep em both for awhile and decide Later.

Oh man! Congrats. Great news. Let us know how it goes.
Congratulations! Raising children is about the most fun hobby a couple can have. If you teach your child the simple values of honesty, compassion, and the value of self reliant hard work (you know, the kind of stuff so many trad gangers are made of), he/she will grow to be a fine person. You are in for a wonderful journey.
Looking forward to the news Jeff. And pics of your new Whip.
Sounds like a "win, win" situation, congrats to you and your wife. :clapper: :dunno:
I had the same win, win last year and I won, won :goldtooth: My little girl is going to be a year old this month and though it's been tough finding time to bow hunt right now, down the road I think I'm going to have one heck of a hunting partner, because she is a major daddy's girl! And as far as the bow goes, well, I love my Damon Howatt Hunter :archer2:
Ha me and my wife bet on the birth weight of my two kids. Kind of the same thing you and your wife have going. I wanted a new bow if I won and she got the equivalent for spending if she won. I never won maybe next time... Good luck to you
I Win :)
Girl!
congrats!
sweet! Congrats! On everything, win win situation all around.
Not a bad bet, you will come out a winner Ether way. CONGRATULATIONS!
:bigsmyl:
CONGRATS!!!!
Congratulations...both ways...
Congrats to you. I got two girls myself.
Congrats on the baby girl!!!! We are expecting our baby girl on Valentines Day.
Jeff, congratulations!!! We have two wonderful daughters ourselves. The oldest, 21, just started shooting with me again this year.
All the best!!!
Congrats! New baby girl AND a new bow!?!? :goldtooth:
Double congrats again!
Oh boy are you in for it! My daughter is now 14. Her Sarrel's longbow hangs on the rack more these days than it has in past years, but there's no greater joy than having a daughter. Congrats to you and your wife Jeff!
