Well I thought I had a good idea putting chartreuse feathers on my arrows with a chartreuse bared cock feather , thought that would be easy to see . Went roving today . Do you know how many chartreuse leaves you can see in the woods this time of year on the ground in Michigan ? One time it took me about ten minutes to find my arrow and it was just laying on the ground completely on top of everything . So whats your color choice for hunting arrows ?
Anything that I have the most of at the time. You want them to stand out in the woods, try Blue!
Yellow! Stands out great, especially when red is added.
Thanks,
white easy to see in flight, but try finding them in snow!
Chartreuse with a florescent. yellow cap dip.

Wow likes the pink !
I dipped my shafts white. Then have traditional barred turkey feathers. In snow I have a couple with blue and yellow feathers. But seeing that I work for the city when its snow I'm in the backhoe cleaning parking lots and streets. So I don't get to have fun in the snow. Just hope it sticks around for me to get in the woods.
primarily it is red barred with flourescent green nocks....on a red cap. yeah i like red... :)
arrows for this deer season are some plain doug fir with a dark mahogany stain and natural turkey feathers...but still with flourescent green nock. :)
This is my favorite.

If you do a search you'll get a lot more answers on this topic.
PINK! seriously though it is a great color and if you don't want an all pink arrow try pink and blue or a bright purple both color combos look great and are easy to see or find.

I like white and white barred with a white cap.
Pink all the way!

Flo pink, flo lime green or chartreuse are my favorite fletching colors. Usually with white or color matched wraps.
I love pink, but most of my current arrows are white. They are easier to see in low light.
Chartreuse over a white cap.

I hear ya on how many chartreuse leaves are on the ground this time of year. I thought the same thing who can't see chartreuse in the woods? Me. I lost a few arrows in those early season leaves too. Right now I use a white cap two flo orange and one black. I'm thinking of going with a blue instead of the black or two blue and one orange. Blue does stand out good in the woods when the forestry uses blue ribbons they stand out better than any other color. I never used blue because although deer are color blind I read certain colors stand out like a neon sign to them blue being one of them. But I now use a fletch cover so being seen would not be an issue. Hmmm maybe all blue
florescent pink 5 1/2" banana feathers
All chartrues,5" with same wrap.
Most of the year I use a red cap dip with 4-4" chartreuse feathers. I can see them real well. Yup, in early fall in a few areas, they are less than perfect, but I can sure see where I hit a deer or a bear.
ChuckC
Depends on which bow I am shooting. I am in the process of standardizing the fletching colors for the various spine weights of various sets of arrows I have. This makes it easier to make sure I grab the appropriate quiver when heading out to shoot. Yellow hens with a natural barred cock feather is my choice for my favorite hunting bow.
Bright yellow over a white wrap
I track white best
A off color than normal is your best choice. I use wild turkey feathers of my own finishing. So I use died yellow and natural. For the life of me I can't imagine why anyone would use RED any where on a hunting arrow. If I see red on a animal I've shot after the shot I don't want to confuse blood loss with my arrow.
Pink
I track white best
I usually use real natural barred turkey feathers, sacrificing a little visibility for durability. I think the natural feathers look the nicest too. I do use a white nock.
For pure all around visibility though I would choose white feathers with a white nock. For me it's the best color for seeing the arrow in flight.
Solid yellow

I use either all orange or white and orange. Not much else on the ground that is orange.
4 4" feathers on yellow paint.... easy for me to see.... except becomes a challenge with the fall aspens and also in fields of Dandelions...
I am thinking that two pink and one blue might be what I will try .
Chartreuse fletch and nock on a white crown work best for me. There are some yellow leaves in the early season, but that really doesn't last long. Chart and white are the only ones that hold their bright in early morn and when the evening light fades. Everything else, incl pink, blue, orange and yellow go dark to me. Chart and orange 4 fletch makes an easy to find 3-D arrow, esp on a white crown.
Red and yellow! Go Chiefs!
Yellow and natural barred. But to hunt its usally Two pink and one white.
Two whites and one fluorescent yellow for me. All my arrows get fletched that way; been that way for a LOOOOONG time now.

I can see chartreuse well.
My favorite is all white with a white crest or wrap
I like all the colors...guess thats why my arrows look like the rainbow. Wait a minute, I don't have pink!
Sorry I couldn't help.
I use 2 flo orange and 1 white feather over a flo orange wrap.
I use 2 flo orange and 1 white feather over a flo orange wrap.
3-4" pink with a flo pink wrap. Have not lost an arrow in practice or 3d with this combo. And I miss a lot!
All natural black/white barred real turkey feathers for me. I fletched with chartreuse one year and to my amazement turkey can see that! Had turkey bust me several times while drawing with the chartreuse commercial feathers, went to all natural and never had a single bird bust me. Natural colors are best if your after birds, deer don't care so much. In my neck of the woods I'm just as apt to encounter turkey as well as deer, coyote, bobcat, ect. so I stick with all natural turkey feathers that I process myself, and as an added bonus they are naturally water proof.
I also only use brought colors.. white, chartreuse, orange, etc.
I want to see the arrow in low light.
This one is easy:

I have gone brouhaha this myself. For best to see in woods it's its best, pink, white(except snow), blue. But you have to be careful wih blue and turkey.
In the colors around here, orange, yellow, red, chartreuse, are no good in fall leaves here.
Cant miss these:

Pink. Mammals can't see red pigments (why red/black plaid covers so well and orange vests look like yellow to game animals). As a result, pink feathers turn grey to their eyes. But, to our eyes, they stand out in almost all environments year round excluding a field of pink wildflowers.
White is fantastic until covered in blood in autumn or if there is snow on the ground.
Flourescent yellow and orange are nice, unless it's fall and there are yellow and orange leaves everywhere or in early spring if there is a lot of yellow-green grass or something then the yellow is hard to see.
Blue shows up really well almost year round, but in shadows at night it isn't as bright as pink so pink gives a nudge there.

I usually use whatever I have around. Every set of arrows is different.
I find no matter what, you will find certain times of year in certain areas, your arrows will be more subjective to blend in.
I was told, "If you are not breaking and losing arrows, you are not shooting enough."
Shooting instinctively requires being able to see the arrow in flight. Repetive shooting soon gives the mind a visual pre-flight path during the "aiming" process.
In my case, using easily visible fletching is essential to consistant instinctive shooting. I have to use brightly colored feathers or I don't shoot well. My personal preference is chartruese and orange with a flo orange or flo yellow nock.
I fletch for accurate flight, not for finding errant arrows in the woods duff. If I'm shooting well I don't have to look for arrows anyway.
I remember 20 years ago I made up a batch of arrows with real barred turkey feathers. Man, did they look cool! I shot those arrows so poorly I was glad when I finally lost the last one! I've never used a dark feather since then.
Just one note on spotting lost arrows........my Easton Blues really jump out at you when they end up in weeds or under leaves. I use them for hunting groundhogs and general roving.
yellow and orange works best for me
I've been stuck on orange lately. Fl. orange nocks, orange tail splice on autumn brown/barred with an orange tracer. I'm working on a batch and will put them on the "Woody Love" thread.
Pink for me also with an occasional yellow.
Orange and yellow. Barred with a sharpie. Orange or white nock.
Yeah, I'done the chartuese too....not great for helping you find an arrow in MI in the early season.
Tried pink and I think it's the easiest to see.
Blue stands out well too..not as bright as pink though.
I'VE READ SOMEWHERE THAT DEER CAN SEE BLUE REALLY WELL..SO I STAY AWAY FROM THAT COLOR.
White is bright of course..but knowing deer use that color as an alert keeps me from hunting with it.
I've done red, green, yellow, orange, natural.
I'd say yellow is second to pink.
anymore, I just use whatever color looks good with the bow..I know..very vain..lol
Right now I'm shooting an osage bow with dark ebony riser...using dark brown and yellow feathers.
Next I plan to make a camo bow....green and brown feathers...lol
Red!
5" shield cut, 2 white and 1 natural barred on a white reflective wrap, with a white nock.
Always liked some yellow in my dip or feathers, but sure think I will try some pink now...
Two chartreuse yellow with a blue cock feather over a white crown with flo green gold tip nock. That combo is always easy for me to see in flight and find. I do use a fletch cover though since those chartreuse "glow" in the dark.
Using white fletching is a good way to get yourself shot here in PA! We have an early muzzleloader doe season, as well as an early Jr/Sr rifle doe season. I have a buddy who had a very close call when his white fletching was mistaken for a deer tail!
Team Pink...

Hermon : Can't argue with that !
My camera doesn't render yellow, orange or red quite as bright as it looks but I'm using a fluorescent yellow wrap and nock and feathers are fluorescent yellow/orange.
May main problem in losing arrows is when shooting in green, irrigated fields like alfalfa and these show up well against that green.

Lite blue !!!
Yellow, yellow and yellow.

I'm on team pink also, switch about 4-5 years ago and will continue with the pink. 2 barred pink, 1 solid pink and pink wrap....
Anything bright.
Mine usually wear white, but I'm like'n the pink!
I've tried many colors but yellow is my favorite. They remind me of hickory leaves when the are turning.
I found this old picture of Hannah. It made me smile. She's at her first homecoming dance tonight, so I am feeling old. This was the "bouquet" I gave her for her birthday that year. Any of these colors will do:

Blue for fall hunting here in southern upstate NY. I haven't found a blue leaf yet! They show well in the snow too!
Flo-yellow wrap and Flo-yellow nocks, 4 3/4" all red feather w/ high burn.
The best fletching, nocs, stain or anything else on a set of arrows is whatever tickles your fancy at the time. It works for me. Eventually you grow tired of what you have then move to something else.
Team Pink!! Bet you can't find anything of a florescent pink color growing naturally in the woods.

Right on Hermon! Seriously I think I've tried every color except pink.
Bright .... and cheap. If theres a deal on it, I';ll fletch with it.
sry double post
Pink or orange
Really boring but love white! White dip or wraps and white fletch. Easy to see blood on white and when shot in dim light. I add colored nocks and a flor. red crest when hunting in snow.
Good post -
Kris
Going with the pink this year.

I have a half dozen arrows at the archery shop getting 3 hot pink with white knocks . Thanks to all for the neat pics and your input :campfire:
MY priorities are seeing the arrrow in flight BRIGHT and finding it after a hit or miss . If you cant find it THATS NOT GOOD
I also build a different set of arrows with different color scheme for every bow I own . MY combos are USUALLY a mix of Blue's, reds and whites with some grey barred mixed in. I try to splice an inch or so of plain white at the back end of the feather for visibility in flight . I stay away from yellows in the fall Hard to find the arrow in leaves after the shot .
Exception to the rule is when IM building strictly for turkey hunting . Turkeys can see color SO I DO build camo type arrows for that . Using Browns, Greens, blacks and Barred greys .
