ok i have a BAZILLION small burs in a good pair of hunting pants and a shirt. to pick them out i would have to take them to the grave with me! tried a dog comb, pressure washer and a variety of other things and nadda! any help on the removal?
Those Burr blocks work pretty good.
will check it out thanks!
My ex believed that a couple of pair of panties in the wash with them will remove all the burs.
Apparently there is some sort of bur collecting properties built into them...lol
Anyway I was given the strictest of instructions to be sure none of her underwear were to ever touch any part of my hunting clothing.
Geez, I was just trying to be helpful since she had a pile that appeared to be in the dirty clothes pile plus there was an outside chance some estrogen might transfer to my stuff and help as an attractant for my purposes...lol
God bless,Mudd
I use a cat sized curry comb, the kind that is used to brush cats. It looks almost like a hacksaw blade that is bent around to form a loop. (the "teeth are not as sharp as a hack saw blade".
Worked great on polar fleece and similar stuff.
ChuckC
scrape them of with a knife
How bout some super sticky duct style tape. Tape over the areas, then remove the tape. rat'
I use a Burzoff, works well.
D.P.
Leave them build up till you have a homemade ghille
Not sure what kind of burs you have or what kind of material they're in, but how bout a comb?
Ken, I have a similar comb as Chuck describes, Used for Horses if you want to try it.
i used duct tape and a circle dog brush to get the majority off, will by burzz off as well.
Go to Walmart and buy a $3 pumice stone that is used for feet. Works as good as burz off.
I live in the land od cotton. NOTHING works better for me than a ball of cotton! Try for yourself.
hey Brother just take em off and biff em then buy a new pair LOL!!! man those things are just as bad as chiggers
Hey candybutt, it's not like they're on the inside!
Sheess. I thought you were tough.
Killdeer
Let us know what works.
What are your plans for avoiding future problems?
I had / have a old fleece jacket that got them small burrs in it once...as you said, I spent every night after hunting and one whole day Sunday picking them out with a fine comb. My jacket only has 1/2 the nap it used to!
I do NOT wear that jacket anywhere I am unsure if there are cockleburs, buggar burrs (my tech term for them tiny round ones with spikes all around)or them 2 pronged sticky things
Hack saw blade combed over them works on some . depends what kind of burs they are .
I'm with Doc, I have some real nice fleece that I don't wear elk hunting anymore. Burr magnets. Fleece belongs in a tree stand.
I have a buddy that gets into burrs all the time where he hunts. he says his wifes pumus stone works great to take them off. he said all the little pors grab the burs. I never tried it but he says it works great. Thought id share as they are cheap and can get anyplace.

Ouch!!! But hardee har har! Use one of them big ol knives just use caution.. An un serrated butter knife will work as well.
Try a file card.
LOL Killy! well when i did use the duct tape and dog comb i took off a ton of material on the pants and as you know Day One is not exactly Wrangler cost wise....

Yup. Before you spend any money try a knife Ken. Just lay the clothes flat on a table (outside) and the knife blade will scrape them all off in no time.
Oh BTW, pay no attention to that crazy woman....
Ron
that crazy lady is top notch in my book, crazy ain't bad!
