Title: Affordable carbon shafts
Post by: Rock 'N Bow on September 17, 2013, 03:43:00 PM
I'm looking to get some carbon shafts for the upcoming season. My funds are limited, so I've narrowed it down to Beman ics Bowhunter, Arrow Dynamics Hi Plains Hunter, or Gold Tip blems from Big Jim. What would you suggest as the best value in terms of durability and quality?

GT Blems from Big Jim are had to beat, either durability or price.

Don't waste any more time asking. Go buy some GT blems while he still has them!

I'd recommend buying arrows that are constructed without a stiff spot like Easton, Gold Tip, Victory, Beman, or Carbon Force. Also buy a shaft with the tightest tolerances possible in your price range. I also noted your rather expensive stable of bows... I know you're on a budget but maybe your arrows aren't the best item to cut from the budget.

I actually like the Ics bowhunters better then gold tips in most cases.  They seem tougher to me.

They are all good quality, the durability of any carbon shaft will be increased greatly if you put an aluminum footing on them.

GT trad blems from Bigjim, under 5 bucks a shaft. cant be beat.

the 5575s are most likely what youll use, they take some abuse. the 7595s are even more durable but youd need to use 400 plus grains up front to tune them  and they would be as long as javelins.

I sell a lot of shafts/arrows and they will all work, but the best value is the blems. They are much more durable than the ics unfortunatly not as available.
Now is the time however. The 5575's would be my suggestion and I wouldn't wait too long as we only got in 100 doz of the 55's and they will probably only last about a week.

thanks, bigjim
