first off...I am not a super fan of bow quivers...and IMHO back quivers are awesome for 3-d shoots...but not my my favorite for still hunting or even taking stand...the quivers tht mount on the side of the bow are OK...but still tend to get in the way for me...
I have been studying many various models and approachs done by others...I had a nice tanned Buffalo robe that I have been using for various projects...I was making up a pair of moc's and thought of trying something similar for what I wanted for my hunting quiver...
I wanted to ue my old Fred Bear quiver for BASE...To hold my arrows secure...and just slide into place...its pretty compact...and has lots of special meaning to me too...My Dads old Grizzly (from '62)had one just like it strapped on it from back in the day...
I took the hide and made my cuts and stitched it up w/ sinew...being a tanned robe it was still a bit soft, and had a lighter color...I wanted the shape to be stiffer, and even a bit more brown colored...I liked the shorter fur from the underbelly for this...not too long, but really making for a quiet unit...buff leather is famous for being able to get wet...and then dry out fine too...
from experience using lime to remove fur from tanned hides, I also found out through experience that "dehydrated" lime did remove the tannic acids used to soften the leather, but left the fur on...it also left a nice brown color...this is lime found at any organic garden center...soaked over night then rinsed...when dryed it left the leather pretyty hard too...maintaining a shape...in this case that of the old FB quiver...
I made the strap a bit longer than neccesary to accomadate a heavier pullover etc for colder weather...the holesare punched so I can adjust the lngth appropriately...
it fits right on my hip allowing for easy access to arrows when needed...here are a few pics...

I am pretty happy...its something I wanted to do for a while...and since my favorite style of hunting is stalking and calling in heavy timber...it fills the bill perfect...it allows me so much more room to move my bow around un encumbered...it is a perfect match for my shedua riser t/d I made up a while ago...the old FB out of the deal and it is also a great way to carry arrows on shoot...a piece of foam could be easily installed to hold heads instead of the old FB...

the FB stays in there nice and snug...I also tried a piece of ethafoam for a hood and just stuck some arrows in there that way...which was fine too..the boq quiver does keep the arrows together a bit tighter , which is how I am using for starters...

of course some folks would like a few mod's for their own personal application...but it will be a good starting place.

That's really beautifully done.
the arrow that slides in thw backside of the quiver(the old FB design) is the one I stalk/stand with...the first two are easily accessed ...the bottom one is OK...just requires a bit oof a twist etc...
if I hunt a stand I hang the old quiver up on a limb or similar...the "mocc" is what I made up for carrying the arrows still hunting out of the way...
I also made up a piece of ethafoam for a hood/shield for heads. It actually works fine too...since the buff fur is turned in it makes a pretty quiet storeage place.
I just like the old quiver since its easy for a stand situation( it also has some nostalgic meaning for me since my dads old grizzly had one like it on it for many years ago)
...many times while I am still hunting I will stand in one spot for 20-30 minutes...and I pull the quiver out and hang it up sometimes, or if I climb up a pine tree to get a better view.
its taken me 40 years, but I think I finally found an answer for me as to how I want to carry arrows w/ heads while hunting.I have never liked shooting my Trad bows with arrows hanging on them.
thanks to all for your comments and remarks...I will post the template when I get it done.It could be done with many different types of hide/leather...I used to manage a Buffalo operation...so I have some of that at my disposal. Also Buff leather is probably one of the most if not the most durable N.American hide out there.
on lariats used for roping calves etc it is what is preferred for the piece of leather that is used to finish off the end of loop that holds the lariat in place...it just does not wear out...
using that dehydrated lime to dye it also removed (or neurtralized) the vast majority of the tannic acid smell leftover from the tanning process...for those that might mean something to...
