Title: Wes Wallace Mentor vs Fox High Sierra
Post by: Sharpend60 on September 16, 2013, 11:42:00 AM
Id to hear your thoughts and ideas on these two bows. Real world experience or whatever info you'd like to share. Of course pics, if ya own both a side by side is in order.

I've owned both in the past and give them high marks.  Both bowyers are great to deal with.  Unfortunately, neither bow is on my rack today but I would not hesitate to get either.  However, I would recommend doing a test drive before buying.

I've owned a Mentor for a couple of months now but have not taken a picture of it. It is a wonderful shooting bow though and I have great confidence shooting it plus I won $7 from some guys shooting at a mark at 30 yards last weekend with it.

I have owned a few of each and currently have a Wallace.  They are very similar in their physical and performance characteristics.  If you enjoy this type of bow you cannot go wrong choosing either.  Each and every one has it's own mojo, that is why I've had to try a few before settling on one.  But I am sure there is a High Sierra out there that I gotta have!

Owned both, still have the High Sierra.  Both are excellent bows, but I preferred the Fox because to me it is less bulky and has cleaner lines.  I also like the graceful thin accent arc in the Fox riser as opposed to the straight accent stripe in Wes' bows.
The grip fits me better also.

both fantastic bows...  for me if there is ever an option and a Fox is involved... that's the way im gonna go 9/10...  Ron puts my favourite finish on his bows.

well in a very short time I will have my High Sierra and I already own a Wallace Mentor.  Both bows are at identical specs so I can really compare.

The Mentor is just an excellent bow!  Mine features myrtle wood veneers, bamboo core, and cocobolo myrtle riser

at 55lbs with a 525gr arrow I get 190fps 28" draw with a nock set and a set of string leechs.  It is very smooth to draw-excellent craftsmanship-and WesWallace is fantastic to do business with.

my High Sierra will feature black locust limbs and a bubinga riser.  Comment more when it comes in

I've only been shooting for a couple years, but I've tried a bunch of different bows through buying or trading. I have not tried a Fox High Sierra, but I have shot a few different Wes Wallace Mentors. I LOVE this bow! I haven't found a grip that I like better. Whenever I try and find a different bow, I just keep coming back to my mentor. I just have in and ordered another one

well I have had a chance to play with my High Sierra.

the bow is very good looking, smooth shooting, quiet, and the arrows go where you look.

haven't had a chance to chrono yet.

compared to the Mentor, the Fox has much narrower limbs.

grip is very comfortable as is the Mentor

Not much for chrono speeds, I've got a long draw. Even the 'slow' bows do ok w/ me. I'm currently shooting a Martin Hatfield, it's in the slower side but man is it accurate.
Thinking bout getting rid if some of my 2nd hand customs to fund one if these two.
