Muck Boots!!! Hit the product Review Archives and you'll find all the reasons. I'm pretty sure they're still there. I've been using them about 5 years now and love the comfort and quality more than any of the others I've used.

ber643 is right on target (as per usual) with the Muck boots! I have messed up feet (2 surgeries) and have a real hard time with footwear, but I love my Muck Boots! Mike

Muck boots are very nice and very warm, buy a size larger than ya need and add socks. I like LaCrosse myself. Shawn

I'm with Shawn on this one, LaCrosse has my vote. I also have an over sized pair for cold weather. Mike

I bowhunted whitetails in northern Missouri for nearly twelve years in a row.  I wore LaCrosse Burly boots quite a bit.  They had "ankle fit" which helped a lot.

Everybody has their own opinion.....and here is mine. I hunted in Lacrosse burlys for years and then decided to try a pair of mucks.  I hate mucks they rubbed a horrible blister on my right ankle if I had to walk any distance.  After one particular long walk to the stand kind of hunt, I vowed never to wear them again and went and bought me a pair of burlys and don't plan on looking back.  My mucks are a size 8 and have been worn, but I'll send them to you for free if they will fit you.

I haven't worn LaCrosse, but my Woody Max Muck boots have been working real well for me.

I'm unsure of the brand, but I've used the Wal-Mart specials with 1000g of thinsulate for years. I find that this is just enough so that with thin socks they're a bit warm in the summer, but with thick wool socks in the winter, I never feel a chill. The outsole leaves a little to be desired (it's kind of a narrowish platform), but it makes up with a steel shank. For $19.99 they can't be beat.

I scoured the Muck Boot website and there is NADA about any reference to being ankle fit... so I have to infer they are not or would say so somewhere!

My "fear" is what AMB stated...without ankle fit..they'll flop around on me. Worse is these steep hillsides and sidehilling I end up standing on the side of the boot top... w/o ankle fit.

Now Bernie got big ole platforms for a li'l guy...God must've made his feet first and then didn't have enough  stuff left to grow him taller'n 5' nuttin!
:knothead:

I figure that's why they stay on his pegs ok. Rest of ya, got no idea..just figure I need them ankle fits to ...well...FIT!   :bigsmyl:

I just returned from Quebec...bought a pair of LaCrosse Alpha Burly- Lites...and LOVED THEM.

Nice tight ankle fit keeps you from walking out of them in mucky ground..but they come off very easily with one hand...good front "protectors" to keep from getting gouged by sticks as you walk...extremely light..easy on, easy off..and 80 bucks I think.

Not too shabby!

I have a pair of Lacrosse 1200 burly, and i love them. Over the years i have tried different brands but keep going back to Lacrosse, because they out last the others and are very comfortable.

Lacrosse Alpha Burly boots are great.  And save some money by going with OD Green, I think they look better than camo anyway.  Why I tried to get by with cheaper stuff before that I have no idea.

I will stick my neck out here, Doc and others, (you know my memory) I think they used to say something about the ankle fit. Perhaps "some" folks complained they didn't fit "their" ankles - so they took it out. On the other hand perhaps I just heard other users talk about the "great ankle fit". In any case, I will vouch for the ankle fit being the best I've ever had (I have trouble with my feet too), and not only that but they are the ONLY ankle fit boot I've ever had on that you can remove with one hand (no boot jack needed). Also they are the lightest, most comfortable rubber boot to walk in (a lot sometimes) I've ever felt. Next to how I feel about ThermaCell Mosquito Repellers - Muck Boots are my second favorite product of my lifetime, for doing/being all they are cracked up to do/be. I have only heard/read one person say anything about them sliding on his feet, and mine never have on me. If I recall they do say better to go larger than smaller if in doubt when odering. My most usual (shoe/boot) size is 10 but depending on makers/type it can go up to 11, so I ordered what they call a 10-10.5, and I'm good to go. They have ones for colder climates also and I've heard good about them too. I have just the plain, green (olive drab) ones. I can honestly say it would really shock me to read/hear negatives about them. I understand this past year they came out with a snakeproof one too. I hope mine last forever but, if not, I'll look into those - had to "sneak" by a SNAKE just yeasterday in mine - LOL. If/when I go to a real snakey area, I wear my Rocky snake boots (which are also comfortable, and light) but I always miss my Muck Boots when I do, I mean it all.

(Guess this should be in the reviews too, huh? Sorry.)

The only thing I don't like about Muck boots is the neoprene tears when you walk through briars or tough brush. They are great in all areas except the uppers are not very tough/durable.

That's true of Neoprene, can't argue that - I guess I just got used to being careful of my Neoprene waders. I've never had a tear in either Those or my Muck boots (knock on wood) and I go through a lot of rough stuff but if I feel it pulling I stop and free it. Cost too much to tear 'em up I reckon. I'll bet if I got caught bad on what some call Cat Briars or Devils Thorn here in NC, without seeing them first  - I'd be looking for a repair kit in a hurry, though. However, I punched through a regular Rubber boot of good quality with those one time. They are bad to the bone - or at least the rubber.
