Title: Nock to String Fit
Post by: Bigjackfish on September 11, 2013, 05:04:00 AM
I have a new super kodiak with a stock string and I am shooting carbon ex heritge arrows.I notice that the nock snaps on nicely but you can slide the arrow up and down the string with no friction. Is this normal I am a newbee to traditional archery and have crossed over from a compound.

That seems a little loose to me. You may try tying on a second nock on your string.

As long as they stay On sring when you point Bow At The y riund and dont fall off they should be fine. Shawn

Hey John I shoot the same arrows and saw the same thing you did. They snapped on nice, but seemed to slide up and down the string. I did have a nock below, but they just bothered me. I took some Easton Super nocks and put them in there and they fit the string much better.

like Shawn said. The reason that the inside of the nock is larger and can slide on the string is that as you draw the string the string rolls and the arrow will fall off the shelf. There are several of us who use two string nocks one over and one under to prevent up and down movement of the arrow on the string

X2 on the Super Nocks if you don't like the slide on string. I did'nt care for that either on those arrows when I shot them. rat'

I feel the cx nocks are too snug in most strings. It takes more effort for them to pop off despite them being loose once there snapped on.  I think too snug a nock can create so flight/ tuning issues.

I think you're right on that to Brad. They were very irritating. They did have a tight snap, but then the throat was very loose.

I think most nocks will slide up and down once they are on the string. Just put a nock on top and bottom of your string.

I hand tune every nock, to fit the way I want.
