Title: nesting carbon & aluminum arrow advice needed
Post by: BearCrkBandit on September 10, 2013, 09:54:00 PM
For a little background, I have a Bear's Paw Avian ILF recurve with 60-63# @28" limbs. I draw 30", so it's a little heavier. My issue is that I cannot find arrows stiff enough for it. I am not a fan of the Grizzly Sticks, and right now am shooting the Dangerous Game 250 FMJ's. Trying to tune them, I have them cut down as short as absolutely possible, and although with a cushion plunger, I can compensate, they are still not stiff enough. I've heard of guys nesting 3555 carbons inside aluminums, I just forget the size, and also any tips on gluing/putting these shafts together to give a consistent spine. thanks!

Why not try the 300's or 7595's

You might be able to find something in the Dark Continent forum. Ive seen some arrow threads in that forum that may answer your question.

Thanks jshperdue, I'll check that out. wayoutwest, both of those shafts are more flexible than the 250's

How much point weight are you shooting...I am shooting very similar specs to yours and find that 31.5 inch 2317 aluminums tune nicely for me with 160 grain Thunderheads...2317's are .297 spine
