Title: Glue on field point not fitting right
Post by: Scott E on September 09, 2013, 05:53:00 PM
The points are going on almost all the way but the wont go on completely. I tried it on some POC shafts too below is a hard wood shaft.

I've had the same thing happen.
I think your taper is too long & bottoming out on your field point before it's fully seated. When I shortened my taper they started fitting properly
Try cutting 1/4" off your point taper.

What taper tool?  If you are using a sanding disk and a block the angle could be incorrect.

Some 125s do that, like mentioned above, shorten your taper...just nip 1/4" off and try again.

All you have to do is cut the 1/4" off the tip.  thats it.

Okay great thanks all. I'm using the traditional only pocket taper tool

Looks to me like the shaft diameter is larger than the point diameter(outside)

There are two types of points out there. One is a deep inside tapered point and other has a shallower inside taper.  I'd cut off a little and retry the fit.
