Gang,
Been a while since I have posted but need a little input. Last night I was working on getting my grizzly heads ready for the upcoming season and had a couple questions.
1. I am shooting wooden shafts and use a KME broadhead sharpener, which means I have to take the heads off to sharpen??? Does anybody have another way and I dont really want to buy anymore sharpening equipment. Its not a big deal just a little inconvenience.
2. What are you guys doing for in the field sharpening? Or are the heads tough enough that you guys dont have trouble with heads dulling in a quiver?
Thanks in advance.

I guess I don't understand why you need to remove the heads to sharpen them. Why ?

I sharpen mine right on the shaft. Never had any issues.
I have the KME broadhead sharpener that rolls across the stone, maybe I am crazy, but its pretty hard to keep even pressure when I have a 30 inch arrow shaft to deal with as well. Maybe I just need to try it a little more???

My bad - I assumed your KME was the knife sharpener which is what I use. I have no experience with the broadhead sharpener.
If you have them sharp from the KME (and you're only touching them up afterwards) you could just use light file strokes and then a ceramic stick or strop on leather.
Caleb use the same stone that you use with the KME, place the broadhead down on the bevel and stroke it on the stone with gentle hand pressure. Once you see a burr develop on the back side just flip the broadhead and lay the broadhead flat with just a few strokes to remove the burr. Finish up with stropping on a piece of cardboard or leather on the bevel side to put the final edge on.
I used to use a similar style sharpener with the head on the shaft. You can do it, don't give up.

Been playing with the same recently. I just leave them on the arrows. Took a little bit of playing with to get the touch, but starting to figure it out.
