A gorgeous day to start the season in the Old Line State yesterday. I'm curious:
1) Did you hunt? (yes)
2) Did you see whitetails? (yes)
3) Did you take a shot? (no)
4) Did you fill a tag ? (see (3))
5) What was the best part of your outing? (9 wild turkeys)
:campfire:
Jim,
I didn't go but thought to myself it was indeed a beutiful opener and had friends here in Md. that went ...Yohan got a sika doe using a old bear razorhead that belonged to his dad and was passed down to him and a good friend "Otis" known as Blinds went out and saw 6 and got his Asbell wool jacket in the mail that he was praying for...I was glad they got to see a beutiful sunrise and was happy for them both..
Now by the 5 questions you posted and answered to I take it that you also must of got one of those D.N.R. report cards wanting you to report and keep a daily journal and turn back in for another one checking off every game animal you saw and how many, what county you are hunting and if you wear cover scent, use bait and just waiting for them to ask how many guns and bows you own ? Never saw this before has anyone else? I tore the thing in shreds and tossed it in the trash ...Government can have someone else do thier dirty work cause I'm there to enjoy what little time I can in the great outdoors without having homework to do when I get home...
1) Did you hunt? (No, worked in the yard with my wife, got plenty of time.)
2) Did you see whitetails? (yes, saw about 6 cross the front yard at dusk including a small spike)
3) Did you take a shot? (no)
4) Did you fill a tag ? (no))
5) What was the best part of your outing? (Listening to my buddy Plumber today recount his shooting of a 7 piont buck Fri eve. and his son Jake's adventure. Also reading about Yohon's Sika doe.)

Keefer, you got me laughing at myself, as I don't do homework anymore, either. I'm taking from what you wrote that I'm just trying to share the excitement of a glorious day.

2nd day-
Slept in, awesome after lousy work week of too damn early.
Afternoon too late too stand but seen a small stag and gf got to full draw on it but chose not shoot wisely at last light. Proud of her.
Rest of season- full of hope, dreams, and excitement....
My brother in law son in law killed a 10 pointer.... :)
I didn't hunt Friday but went out Saturday evening. I saw 2 turkeys, a doe, fawn and a small 3pt. Didn't take a shot but had a wonderful evening in the woods, skeeters were pretty bad and I forgot the thermacell. Looks like the temps are going to heat up the next couple of days.

Thanks for sharing the thoughts and pictures. As you might have guessed, we don't have sikas in my neck of the woods, or it might have occurred to me to ask.
Yohon, is that a Bear broadhead?
Yeah, one I found recently going thru some of my Dads old archery equipment, I choose this one because it came off of one of his arrows that still had the blood of some critter on the arrow....its got mojo AND it's already sharp and back in the quiver ;)
