A friend of my nephew, was bowhunting his first year and had the shot of lifetime! He was hunting that morning when he saw a yote circle downwind. When he looked to see what the yote was after and he saw these two bucks locked up. The one buck had been carrying the dead buck for days. He climbed down out the tree and got within 20 yrds of the exhausted buck. You can see in his picture he held it together and made a good shot. Both bucks were 10 pnts. the dead buck was the bigger of the two. (http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a606/cmlphelps/1022110853_zps351b0bf1.jpg)
That's unbelievable. Goes to show how cruel Mother Nature can be.
That's one of the coolest things i've ever seen. I've heard of it,but never seen it.
OMG! What a thing to see... And be part of also...
... mike ...
That's a shot of a lifetime right there. Pretty cool
Holy cow that's awesome!
Great photo...
once in a life time thing. glad he got the buck. to end suffering
Although I don't think I would have shot him it sure would have been something to see. Great picture for sure, mother nature can be very mean sometimes.
That is nature...both deer would have likely ended up dead, so it's good to see that someone was able to harvest the meat off of the live animal.
Nice that he ended the live deers suffering , and got some use of it. Better than the coyotes eating on him while he was alive. Never seen locked up deer , but it is awsomw. Congrats to him. . Roy
Wow!
looks like it has been dead for some time. be terrible having to drag that around. i would feel a little funny shooting that buck also but who know if you could have even got them apart safely. given the situation im sure he made the right decision.
Only way to have gotten them apart was probably with a saw .......... AND may have been risky at that. Your's was best solution. She's not mean .......... just the way of Nature.
Incredible! Once in a lifetime. He did a good thing.
Wow!
well he did a good thing right there good on ya buddy :notworthy:
I agree, WOW! Great picture, very few people will ever see that in person.
He did right by shooting, as far along as the dead bucks looks, the second one was dead, but just didn't know it yet.....
Once in a lifetime, and I bet he is glad, cause I bet it smelled HORRIBLE!!
I think it's more amazing these buck were locked up now! Beginning of September!!?? Amazing!
I think the shooter came along at the right time to dispatch an animal who had already suffered enough.
Enjoy the trophy and hopefully the meat of the arrowed deer as well.
God bless,Mudd
Jason, why would you not of shot him. He was suffering for sure and to try and free him may of been suicide. The kid did the right thing!! Very Cool pic.!! Shawn

Very well said Mudd
Two trophies for one and a memory that will last his life time. He did great.
This was last season and the shooter was 16. When this kid was 14 he killed 182" typical with a shotgun! Talk about ruined.
Well done and awesome photo. My buddy has two racks locked together that his dad found while rabbit hunting - 136 and 145, which in our neighborhood are both studs. Glad the shooter was able to put a humane end to this one.
That is a once in a lifetime experience for sure. That young hunter made a good decision to end that bucks suffering and ended up with 2 nice racks & some good meat. I would say he would have some high expectations after killing bucks of that caliber this early in his hunting life.
Incredible
I guess I would have had to of been there Shawn, if he was for sure going to die no matter what I did I would have killed him without hesitation. The one he shot may have been worse off than I can tell in the photo. I am not judging him at all, that's a heck of a trophy and a great story to go with it.
Back when I was a teen I found 2 140+ 8 pointers locked up tight, one looked about dead and the other barely moved. A friend and I crawled in close and we were able to unlock them, one ran away as soon as they were unlocked, the other stayed there for about 20 minutes before it got up and staggered away. We saw them both many more times that November chasing does. Perhaps it was stupid of us to even try but we did it anyways.
Freakin neato as all heck. Amazing. Hail to that.
Mercy shot, and a great trophy too!
They would have been mounted that way too if I'd happened upon them....
That is awesome!
