Title: Bows for my girls
Post by: Al Dente on September 05, 2013, 04:26:00 PM
I am looking to get my two daughters, ages 5 and 3, bows for Christmas.  My 3 year old is just as strong, if not stronger than my 5 year old.  Any ideas, any sponsors?

St Joe River 48" longbow.  My son has one and my three year old will get one soon.

I don't have any experience with purchasing youth bows but I bet Madddog archery would be a great place to start.  His bows are extremely reasonable and he makes a kids recurve and longbow.

Three of my kids shoot Maddogs at present!   My youngest (2) will get one of Mike's bows in the very near future as well!   I'm sold on Maddog bows for my kids!

God bless!

Some adults have been known to shoot Maddog kids bows. Rumor has it that the grip in a Kaliska feels a lot like a Bear Montana and makes a most excellent practice bow....

Take a look at elk ridge bows. I got one for my son he is 3 now very good little bows. New they are not cheap but some people don't know but they sell used bows that are traded in on other ones. They have a trade in plan where a person buys a bow and there child grows out of it they can upgrade and trade up to a bigger bow. I didn't know this till I called and talked to them. I got a osage with bamboo left hand for 65 plus shipping which was about half price and in really good shape to.

My 11 year old daughter has a St. Joe long bow and a Matrix takedown recurve I bought from Black Widow. Both great bows. TonyZ.

southernwoody yes i did and thank you!  if i remember right its 52" ntn and pulls about 19-20#@ 20"  she draws it to about 17".  but i tillered it out to 25" so she can grow with it. believe it gets to almost 30# at that draw length.  its shagbark hickory, pyramid design, i think 1 1/4" at fades down to 3/8" at tips.  heated in alot of reflex and it ended up really straight.  bubinga and osage tip overlays.  btw those finger savers are the bees knees for kids!
