OK, let's play a game. Here is Bill's Farm. You can go to Google Earth and play along. If you were given the opportunity to hunt here, tell us where and why you would choose a place from Google Earth alone.

This is a hypothetical situation. I have no idea who owns this property in Southern Indiana although I have hunted nearby.
Here are the coords to plug into Google Earth.

Open GE and plug them in. Post some screen shots of your answers if you can.
This should be good!
I would sit in his barn and shoot out of the hayloft!! :bigsmyl: Shawn
Does Bill have a daughter?

He's got a herd of daughters and they are all cheerleaders!! Bills got a nice property!
If I were in the market for a wife, and Bill had the ugliest daughter in the county, that 1500 acres would make her a whole lot pertier.

Use the link above to grab yourself a map.
Here are my first 4 choices. Stands 1 and 3 are pretty obvious timber funnels between features.
Stands 2 and 4 are inside corners. Stand 2 is probably my favorite as it feels like a really nice combination of natural terrain features that will guide deer that way anyway. Add in the inside corner and it should be gold during the pre-rut cruising period.
I like a couple spots up in the big chunk of woods too but I'll save those for later.

not knowing anything more than what I can see, I would hunt (morning and night) on the very north edge, facing that large area of bush/forest on the adjacent property parallel to the small creek running north south through the middle of the property I may hunt a little mid day, in the valley on the very north west side, water, bearing trees and cover.
Explanation: They would likely be moving from the large bush to this property that seems to be more crop land and possible bearing trees. lots of water sources throughout, but remote good water seems to be in west valley, this might also indicate nuts bearing is better in that area.
by being that far back on the first stand better potential for deer earlier with more light, they might wait until dark to move past farms into field.
by the way I love these threads, you really get to see different approaches and ideas from all the expertise here. Also so many different deer habits and movement throughout N.A.
Interesting!

Numbered areas are primary. Inside corners, funnel and water sources. No stand, I am a ground pounder.
Where wouldn't I hunt?! There are several good places that would be good for multiple winds.
