Besides the Bitz what do some of you recommend.I don't do dozens of arrows just repairs or a half dozen.
Anybody use Big Jims Uni Fletcher?
I like the bear paw. The blitz is my backup.
That's the Vador Uni-Fletcher Big Jim has on his site.
I've been using a table of twelve of those jigs for a number of years and they work great for me. You certainly can't beat the price: a whole jig for the price of a Bitz clamp... hmmm... that's a hard decision!

im a big fan of the jojan jig. I tried their 6 arrow jig but didn't like it as much as my jojan single. I have been using that single jig for 20 years and love it.
The Jo-Jan is a great tool I have the single one and it works well to build a dozen shafts or repair a few.I also have an Arizona e-z fletch that works well some people dont like them.
I use the Jo-jan.
The jo-jan multi fletch that I had was out of alignment from first to last shaft. I have seen many others the same way.
I have used a set of 6 Graylings for many years.
Grayling is what I use.
I use the Arizona EZ Fletch. I guess it's becuase I started with it over 20 years ago, but I just like it the best.
Another vote for the Arizona EZ Fletch. Works as well as any and packs up and stores in a small drawer. Space is at a premium on my workbench!
I've got it down to two,uni fletch or grayling. Any comments on these?
JoJan, but number your clamps so you use the same clamp on the same arrow. Been using it for over 20 years. Had a Bitz and sold it. Clamp is too strong. I like to leave my feather up a little and when pushing it down on wood arrows to make sure the quill is touching the whole shaft.
What fletching jig should a beginner use? Which one is the easiest?

So far as I can tell they are all very similar.
While each jig will have its own special touches they work on the same principal and are relatively idiot proof.
That being said, I do not like the Bitzenberger because the nock receiver does not accept the Bohning classic nocks I use, it has to be filed or drilled out. That's a little touch rarely spoken of by the jig's fans. Not a big deal, but kind of odd that it won't work off the shelf with one of the most popular nocks we use.
I like the Vador uni-fletcher. It's easy to adjust without tools, is inexpensive, and works fine for me. A friend of mine has some but would rather use his Jo-Jan multi-fletcher.
A lot depends upon what you get used to.
Remember, no one is going to be able to look at your arrows and say, "Those were fletched with XXX jig."
Once they're fletched they'll all look the same and perform the same.

Another vote for the bearpaw, like it better than the bitz
I have a Bitz a Grayling a Bearpaw and a BPE.
I would say for a beginner the Grayling or Bearpaw is the easyer to use.
The BPE has the most adjustments for changing nock alignment and feather placements.
BPE has my vote for the best.
George I'd be happy to help you out with re fletching your arrows.
Thanks Larry but I just bought the Uni Fletcher.
I am having a problem with a jojan single. I can not, no matter how i move my arrows, get the jig to contact my arrow in the middle. I have adjusted the nock slot all the way both ways, and still can't get it to work.
My friend actually gave me the jig because of the same problem.
If it matters, I am shooting Ted Nugent goldtip 5575 blems.
JoJan. The best!!!!
I use both Bitz and JoJan multi. And once setup they both work fine. I think the biggest problem people are having with jigs is they are trying to get to much helical and that is what is causing poor feather contact. Just set the jig to make good contact with the feather and the shaft and the clamp will set enough helical.

I am not trying to get any specific helical. I am just trying to get good contact the full length of the jig. I can get good contact on the front and the back, but i can't get any contact with the middle of the jig. Are these jigs specifically designed for larger diameter shafts? Or should it work no matter what?
I have a Bitz and a BPE. I like the Bitz the best, but if I was recommending for a beginner I'd go with a Jo jan or a bohning. No need to spend $90 to get started.
Try leaving about a 1/16 in clearance between feather and clamp before putting the clamp on jig. I do this by putting feather in clamp and run my thumbnail between feather and clamp then gently slide clamp in place until you get full contact on the shaft. Hope this helps.
