Well. James did it again. He got ahold of my Wednesday and said the Northstar was complete , he was going to hurry up and try to get it to the post office so it would be here by Saturday, otherwise I'd have to wait untill the following weekend to get it since I am working out of town.
I get home today and low and behold, here is what the postman left for me..........

Closest thing to feeling like a kid on xmas eve. I'm looking forward to seeing pics myself. What is the northstar model?
No!!! Man ole man that sucks! Can't wait to hear more about it

The "Northstar" is a forward handled string follow bow that draws smooth and it's point-ability is awesome.
I shot the original which was only 62" long and I was totally amazed.
Longbows that short aren't supposed to be able to draw that smooth... thus the "Bumblebee" of longbows IMHO.
Congratulations Brian!
God bless,Mudd
Wow Brian! You have a long night in front of you, Ha ha. Something tells me you are going to love this bow. I'm shooting the little "bumblebee" NS that Mudd tested out. What a treat to shoot(and quiet due to the great string silencers that Mr Mudd put on!).
Enjoy, and I am looking forward to pics.
JW
I talked to james a couple days ago and my vixen should be here the day after i leave to go hunt elk. So i feel your pain!
I will have to wait 12 days.
Good on ya Brian! Now hurray up and get the post office so we can all see how pretty she is!
Bob. :archer:
Well, the post office must be open by now. We are waiting for some pics! Or are you too dang busy shooting your great new bow?
Congrats!
I wish I was busy shooting it. I have a painter comming by and some honey dos to do, BUT I opened up the box and it is hands down one of the prettiest and most slender bows I have ever seen.
Cool. Congrats again. I think my next bow will be a Berry. Make sure to post some pics when you have some time.
:campfire:
Ok, I have a break in the day as I just got to the hardware store. 3 truck loads of mulch later and I got some pics.
Spec again are: 54@26" 62" reverse handle /stringfollow JD BERRY Northstar. Myrtle riser encased in African wenge, all yew limbs with brown glass back clear belly. Brown fiberglass wedges.

Not the best pic, but perfect glue lines with the African wenge encasement and gorgeous myrtle

Looks like the new brown glass. And I LOVE IT. It is lighter than my Vixens brown but I like it alot. Tip measures 3/8 under the nock

James Yew, hands down the best I have seen. Just a golden sunrise color and character galore

Love the contrast of the sunburst gold of the yew and the blonde of the myrtle

I have only shot maybe 6 arrows from it. No tuning , no nock point. It draws very very smooth. Zero noticeable shock, very quick, surprisingly so actually. With it being 62" it seems maneuverable and great point ability. And as always, other than all the other great attributes of a berry bow, the grip is just PERFECT. James grips are what hooked me from the beginning and this bow is no different. I am pleased.
Ill tell more about the shooting when I get a chance. I need to get in to the store and get back to work!!!!
I've been waiting all day for these pics. What a beautiful bow. What is the benefit of the "string follow"? Is it essentially a morningstar with string follow? Seems like it would be a little slower. Iam new to these types of bows but quickly becoming a fan. Congratulations on a awesome bow.
What a beauty, Brian! Can't wait for the shooting report!
Oh, man, is that pretty!
:archer:
Thanks guys. I am loving it. I was skeptical to try a shorter bow again but this one has removed all doubts!!!!
Lone,
This is a stringfollow version of the Morningstar. It seems really quick so I dot know it it lost any performance at all. Some say stringfollow imparts some forgiveness in shooting compared to a reflexed. They also say reverse handles offer forgiveness, so I guess a reverse handle /stringfollow bow should be VERY forgiving.
All my Berrys are top shooters though and seem forgiving. Ill have to shoot in to fully understand it
Looks great Brian. Now you need to post family picture of all your Berrys together.
A beauty no doubt!
Thanks for the info Brian. I'll be watching closely for your reviews after you've shot it for awhile. Good Hunting, Mike
Wow. Just, wow. Beautiful.
I just shot it for about 20 min and oh my god. I'm in love. I won't say ill turn my back on my others but this thing rockets an arrow. And 62" DOES make a big difference compared to 68" when sitting/kneeling and ground clearance.
I still haven't tuned it yet though but the arrows are shooting fine. Maybe tomorow ill fine tune her
Aye that there's a fine one, it is
That is one beautiful bow. I can't wait to see it in person. I bet pictures don't do it justice. Congrats on your new bow! I bet that you didn't sleep at all last night. I know wouldn't have.
Your right about that Mike. I LITERALLY dreamt of it. Ha
Looks to be a nice one......I like reverse handle bows.

Congrats Brian. She's a beaut!
Expectations exceeded...again!
I am drooling over the prospect of getting a 66"er in my hands.
I'll be watching for the "tuned-in" photos.
Clearly Mr Berry knows how to build some truly awesome bows.
I have been talking to the "Amazon Lady" hoping to prepare her for the move over to the "2nd chair"...lol
God bless,Mudd
Well I did a little tuning with the arrows on hand.
My ICS 500s will surfice , I want to pick up some beman centershot 500s though just for a touch more weight as these are a tad weak and lowering point weight is not an option as my GPP are as low as I like to go.
Here it is with my zwicky no mercy
Shooting for the leaf, 30 yds (my test point for my BH arrows)

Thank you Byron Ferguson for making that tuning video. Took about 10 min to tune her in. Previously I'd still be worried about my tune 3 months from now
Brianlocal3: "Thank you Byron Ferguson for making that tuning video."
Maybe I need to look into this "tuning thing"...lol
God bless,Mudd
Awesome looking bow Brian! !! And it looks like you are already shooting it well

Brian would you mind filling me in about that video? With all these pages to read I'm sure I missed something somewhere. I could always use some tuning tips. Thanks.
Your bow and your shooting look really good. Enjoy the Northstar and good luck with it.
Mike,
Byron's new video is called "tuning for extreme accuracy". It just shows his method of tuning which is standing 10 yds from a bag target (good and tight not shot out) and reading the angle of the arrow.
I have noticed on other tuning threads this method is often dejected BUT it works for Byron and it has substantionaly upped my confidence and shooting.plus I can haw a new bow and after string stretch have it tuned in roughly 30 min max even with a brand new never shot arrow combo.
I pick my FP weight, (175gr because I have 2 doz 175gr Broadheads) and tune my bow arrow combo for that point weight
More pictures....PLEASE!!!!!!!!
It's all I got to go on until my "Bumblebee" flies in here!!
God bless,Mudd
I'm at the lake with the kids and we are at about 65 bluegill caught. Pics when this fun is over!!
Couple more pics per Mudds request

It's most definitely a "looker"!
I know that you're one proud owner. and rightfully so.
God bless,Mudd
Wow! Gorgeous bow Brian. I really like the lighter brown glass. Congrats!
