Post by: Slickhead on August 29, 2013, 05:24:00 PM
I struggle getting 3 blades sharp.
Shaving sharp.
There sharp but not as sharp as I like
any advise?
Ive heard sharpening on a convex surface works?
Maybe sandpaper wrapped on a piece of PVC?

I use a homemade snuffer tamer with 2 files set at a slight angle. File then stropped on leather works pretty good.I like your idea of pvc and sandpaper by the way.

Key for me is a ceramic stick.  Couple licks with the file then hone with the ceramic.

I put a few pictures and a description about how we sharpen ours years ago on the thread below - about half way down the first page.

I just sharpened up a half dozen this way last week to take to Montana the 13th of September!

good luck!

A dozen strokes with a mill bastard file followed by the same amount with a jewel stick.  TonyZ.
