Title: Help with Toelke Chinook
Post by: James Stiefel on August 28, 2013, 12:54:00 PM
Is there someone out there kind enough to tell me the actual string length for a 58" Toelke Chinook please? I have sent a number of e-mails to the company, but have not been responded to. I have been unsuccessful in finding the strings that were shipped with the bow.

Thanks so much!

Rachel

You might want to try calling Dan Toelke. I got the following number from the web site.
Dans Cell: (406)-253-4949

If that doesn't work, I'm sure one of the string makers on here could help.

Rachel, most recurve strings will be 4" less than the stated bow length ie. 54".I have similar recurves and that's what they take.

You are better off calling Dan.  He usually always answers his calls.  In fact, I just spoke to him yesterday.

His number is 406 253 4949

Calling would be my first choice. Unfortunately, I am aphonic and at a bit of a disadvantage. I appreciate the responses Bladepeek and JimB. Thank you!

I ordered a custom string for a 60" Chinook that was 55 5/8" long based on the measurements I took (per the string maker). this string was made from ultracam.

I know that doesn't necessarily help with your 58" Chinook, but might help you get close. I think if you went 4" less as mentioned above you'd be fine.

Strings for my 58" Chinook are 54" finished. 7 3/8" brace height per Dan's recommendation.

54.5" with a SBD nets me right at a 7" brace height.  I've ordered a half dozen at that length after some trial and error and 54.5 works best.

My thanks to those who responded. Your help is greatly appreciated. I have used the dimension provided by Tater to order a couple of strings.

Thanks,

Rachel
