Title: Two Tracks Bowyer and Wool Artist
Post by: bisket on August 27, 2013, 11:13:00 PM
Was gonna wait and do a thread when I picked up my bow from Chuck at Two Tracks...however I will make it a "two parter".

I was looking to go with a new bow this fall and was looking into a local bowyer so the search started on this great site.  So many good things on here about Chuck at Two Tracks, so I decided to give him a call.  Spoke to him on phone and asked on short notice (since I was in the area)if I could come out that afternoon and look at some bows and shoot.  He said, "come on out and we'll find a spot to shoot where we don't hit the sheep".  And so... Here we go.....

A 45 minute drive and I was welcomed into the home of a bowyer, a wool artist and a dog named Burrdock.  I had a great afternoon talking about life, shooting bows and learning about being a wool artist.  Before I realized it I had carved out 3 hours of their day.  However, I found what I was looking for in his Longwalker model.  A hard, flat shooting long bow that allowed me to hear the feathers fly and shoot consistent groups.

I found out that Chuck and I share several things in common, mainly knowing our Creator and the joy of making things with wood.  I mentioned I had some wood that I might like him to use in the bow and he said "bring it over and we'll figure it out".  Chuck worked out the details over and over until he was sure I would be happy with the bow he would be crafting for me.  I could see the wheel's turning and the joy he got out of using his Gift as a Bowyer.  He answered and explained every why, what and how that I had for him.  To the point that I just said, "Chuck, you just do your thing."

Well he has been doing his thing, along with getting ready for a bear hunt of a lifetime in a few weeks (check his threads), because today he gave me an update and I am now excited as it looks like we are down to the final week...Stay tuned for Part II and the pic's.

Part II -
Picked up The Bow today from Chuck.  WOW...The pictures should speak for them self.

But I need to say that I couldn't be happier or prouder of my new friend.  "He did his thing".  Red Elm cores, Hackberry limbs, walnut & red elm & hackberry Riser.  Really special for me to have some of these woods in the bow as they were being stored up in my wood shop.  Many of turkey have been called in over the years with calls I've made out of this same batch of hackberry.  Thank You Chuck.   :clapper:

Oh, yea, almost forgot....53# at my 29" draw length.
It shoots were I'm looking fast, smooth, quiet and flat.  NO JOKE GUYS!

My son Brennen put the RED SOLO CUP in the center and I had some fun.  Not all the groups were like this, but most were at 18 yards. How's that song go......

"RED SOLO CUP, I'LL FILL YOU UP, LETS HAVE A PARTY, A LONGWALKER PARTY..."     :biglaugh:

Awesome Longwalker, Mark!  I picked up a Longwalker from Chuck at the GLLI earlier this month, 66" 49@28.  She'll be my constant companion this Fall.  My results have mirrored yours, she's such a sweet shooter.  Also ordered an Echo that I'm REALLY excited about: 68" 52@28.

Chuck is a great guy doing some amazing work.  I've got to quit sending him pm's regarding my Echo, he's a very busy man as of late.

Beautiful bow you have there and some neat history behind it too. I have one of his Ambush bows and I consider it functional art.

I sure enjoyed this build for you Mark, When you showed me your Hackberry turkey call, and told me the history you had with it, I thought "how cool to build a bow from the same tree".
I really enjoyed the process, and was pleased with the way the bow turned out.
I thought your first groups at the house looked good, but you tightened them up some at your home range.

I now have some Mojo from this as well. Mark gifted me one of his turkey calls that he made from the Hackberry as well. I think this might be the stuff I need to break my slump with bow killin' a bird.  Thanks For the call Mark.

Best of luck to you this fall, Have fun stay safe and enjoy the bow.
Thank you,
CTT
