Title: Two piece maintenance?
Post by: Biathlonman on August 26, 2013, 05:12:00 PM
I've always run bow bolts before and Dan Toelke always told me to keep a little chapstick on the bolt and flats.  Just picked up a two piece Big Jim thunderchild.  Anything you all do to maintain the system?  Anything I need to know?

Good post Brother... I took my PLX apart today to wax and I was wondering the same exact thing.

I'll be watching this one  :campfire:

I just keep Big Jims clean of dust or sand, and apply a bit of the wax that comes with it 3 or 4 times a year.

Best system IMO

I bought mine second hand and didn't get any wax.  Paste wax maybe?

The wax (really a thick vaseline) is nothing more than a toilet bowl ring melted in to a tin can. It stays a little more loose and less sticky when the temperature drops. On two piece bows with a little looser socket, you can use string wax.

The best toilet bowl rings to use are the used ones   ;)

Lol, I wondered what kind of wax that was.
