Who's got one? Are they comfortable all day. Sturdy? I am really liking the looks just wan some first hand feed back before I buy.
Thanks
Dustin
I have one on the way. I have been scoping this out for a couple of years and just pulled the trigger.
My wife is wanting also for our backpacking trips.
I've got one. It is definitely comfortable. I haven't done an all day sit but the times I've used it i never had any discomfort. It takes a little getting used to drawing a bow while sitting in it but overall I really like it. SS
Thanks ss.
I bought one this year. It seemed pretty comfortable for the short time that I sat in it before buying it. I will have to sit in it for several hours before I can give you a good answer though. A buddy of mine has one and he likes his.

just got my hammock seat from simply traditional. soon as i set it up i was glad i spent the money on it. very comfortable and very easy to set up and take down. fast shipping also.
I have used one for a couple of years now. The biggest problem I have with mine is that it is so comfortable that it's easy to fall asleep!
I can see that will be a problem
I love mine and so does my wife. She sat in for a few hours on a hunt with me last year. I'm 5'10" 250# and its a comfortable set for me hours on end. Very good $50 investment for hunting.
I love them and have sold a whole bunch of them the past few weeks. Still have a few left but once those run out I will not have any more until mid September.
I just made a video on the Hammock Seat and the HIPS Blind. I like both of the products and hope to take a whitetail this fall with the blind. I used it during Turkey season and was able to draw on birds as close as 25 yards without detection. I was just not able to get one inside my 20 yard minimum zone.
Anyway, here is a link to the video.

Besides being comfortable virtually no weight to take in the deep woods. Really like mine.

I still have a few in stock. If folks go to the site and add them to their cart but do not check out then it does not release them back into inventory. Dan, if you want one, send me a PM and I will remove one from inventory and send you an invoice via PayPal.

Thanks ! I enjoyed the video, looks like the perfect seat for my style of deep woods hunting.
Dan
Have your order Dan, thank you for the business.
If anyone else is getting an out of stock message, as of right now I have 2 more seats available. If you send me a PM I will sell these last two on a first come, first serve basis.
All,
I am now out of stock of Hammock Seats. I have been told that I will be able to get more stock around mid September, so 2-3 weeks I hope. In the meantime if your season is starting and you can't wait you can try a google search for "Fanatic Outdoors Hammock Seat" and order one directly from Fanatic. I would call first as I was told they were also out of stock. I will do my best to get these back in stock asap and will let my fellow Trad Gangers know when I have them back in stock.
In the meantime, if you would like to place a pre-order (no up front payment). Shoot me a PM and I will jot down your name and notify you directly as soon as I have them back in stock. You will NOT need to pay until I have them back in stock!
Thank you for the great response over the past few weeks. It is greatly appreciated!!!
Regards,
I bought one a couple yrs ago and they are comfortable and I use it squirrel hunting. The one problem which is a huge problem is the fabric is very loud when moving so I don't use it as much as I thought I woiuld.
I agree with J Rod.... I am disappointed in how loud the material is.... there has to be a better material that won't make so much noise??? even at 90 degrees this material is way to LOUD for bowhunting..... can't imagine what it will sound like on a cold frosty morning?
So we can agree it is a very nice comfortable seat. So how people have actually shot deer with a bow out of one. For me when I tested a friends I found that it took a lot of movement to get into shooting position.
I like mine, and I have killed a few deer out of it. I have had mine for the last two seasons. I will say this, the material is a littlie noisy, but set up is everything. what I mean is you must learn to set it up so that you are more upright so you can shoot with little movement. also, the setup will be different from place to place because of the slope of the ground and the size of the tree. Is it a perfect seat? No, but it is a fine hunting tool that has a place in our equipment room. But to each his own; because I killed a deer last year out of one of the expensive 3 legged seats that some people love. However, I found it to be loud and uncomfortable. so I say that to drive home the point that very few things are universally good for everyone. so try it and see if it works for you.
I agree some deer will be killed with it as is.... however, I also think the chance that mature deer will be alerted by the excess/unnecessary noise it makes is far greater. Bottom line - they could make this tool a lot more effective if they would investigate better material for the seat...... it's out there (example: the material used in the old mesh treesaddle would be far superior)
Dave and J-Rod, I will pass along your comments to the guys that make the seat. Try to make a good product event better. Thank you for your comments.
I agree the mesh might be a good upgrade for the seat. The noise is my only complaint. But I still love mine.
Thanks BowuhnterGa, I am thinking about removing the hammock which is easy to do without hurting anything and experimenting.
J-Rod,
Let us know how your experiment goes.
Thanks!
Hey guys,
I have had one of these for 4 seasons. They are a great seat, but as with most gear it depends on your use. I mainly ground hunt in N. Ga. There is a lot of hiking and a lot of steep hills. I am constantly trying to lighten my gear (one of the reasons I gave up my compound: the weight. My recurve is a fraction of the weight) This seat collapses to a tiny package and weighs a little over a pound. I bungee cord it to the back of my pack and barely notice its there. Its sets ups on hills, flats, slopes, etc because it only has one pole. Honestly, I have not shot an animal out of it, but when I need a break or find a promising spot, it is ready to go. I have not found any other seat that works as well and I have a few! You can take a break by sitting down, but I missed an oportunity on a nice bear, because he came up on me while I was sitting. There was no way to get into shooting position with out him spotting me. Now I always set up the seat.
What I would like to see:
-The metal pole can be a bit noisy when you are extending it. The holders pop into place. You just need to be careful and hold the detents so they don't "pop" into the holes.
-The strap that goes around the tree does the same thing. Just hold the ears as they engage in the clip.
-Maybe a carbon pole version? I know it would raise the price, but It would be worth it to me.
-Before the season I usually spray camo paint on the pole as it gets knocked off with use.
-Shooting out of it is a different than at the range. Make sure and practice before you use. I shoot a 62" recurve and have no problem.
-I have not had a problem with the material. Maybe mine is broken in from use? It is a bit crinkly, but once in position, i have not had a problem.
This is a great product and completly worth the cost. Its always in my pack. Sometimes it doesn't used, but I like having the option. Even if its just for a nap. Like all gear there is always a compromise, but for a light weight, easily packed, set up anywhere seat, I have not seen anything better. The manufacturers have a good vid and Steve Angell just put out a good one also.
I'm in Ga. Can't wait for Saturday and N. Ga bears!!
I modified mine to make it lighter and setup easier and quieter. Like you I found the standard leg much heavier and noiser than it needed to be.
(http://%20 [/IMG]
I looked into carbon, but it was way more expense than worth it, and the thin wall aluminum tube was almost as light
I also modified mine a bit. I swapped the top strap with a cam buckle strap like you can get a Wally world. I found the originial strap to be a bit too stretchy and the seat kept sagging too far down after a bit. The cam buckle strap fixed that by allowing me to tighten the strap tighter to the tree but it did add some weight. I've not hunted mine, but using it in the yard, I believe it will make a great moblie seat, but I think I may stick to some other seats for all day sits. We'll have to see how the shorter sits go before trying this one for an all-dayer.
I've had two for three years a dense foam pad works great and will cut down on noise.Wrap strap around tree twice when possible.
I had mine for some of last deer season and all of turkey season this year and it is a great tool. I set mine up a little higher as it makes shooting a longbow a little easier but that is just my opinion.
I have not found it to be noisy at all and wonder if it could be a combination of the seat and the material in your pants?
Really good video too, much better than the one fanatic uses to me.
I finally found a potential replacement.... the netting material used in heavyweight decoy bags. Now I need to find a source and someone that can sew the seams.
As far as noise, all I can say is that perhaps it will get less noise with use? But mine is pretty loud and the material does make noise when you shift weight or lean to either side to take a shot.... but I'm pretty picky about noise when hunting.
I'll be watching for the new improved model.
I bought one for my friend Cobweb for some special occasion( I can't remember which one birthday or Christmas).
I liked every thing about it except the sound it made when I moved. I tried adding in a cushion but that didn't silence it enough to suit me.
I hope one of you folks re-do the one you have and post it in the not too distant future so I won't have to make a stab at it myself...lol
God bless,Mudd
PS: I am somewhat of a fanatic about trying to build stuff that has already been made but feel it's just too expensive for my budget like my portable blinds(ground and "On-the-bow).

I was going to mention that the pants you are wearing does make a different. Camo jeans are a bit noisier than say fleece or other soft material.
Hammock seats are back in stock at Simply Traditional. I apologize for the delay in getting these back in stock.
Think I found the perfect mesh net for this.... should have a sample in a few days. Definitely stronger and quieter.
Steve,
I just ordered one of the Hammock Seats and sent the payment via PayPal.

Got your order Bill. I have several seats going out at once. Hoping to make one trip to the post office in a couple days. Will let you know as soon as they ship.
Thank you for the support!
Alright, pulled the trigger and ordered one.
You will love it. I used one of Steve's all weekend and after I got the hang of it, I absolutely LOVE it. You can make something out of nothing in a pinch really quick. Plus, it is the most comfortable seat I've ever had.
Got seven days off coming up. Ready to put mine to the test.
