Title: Someone in Sioux Falls to fix my Double Bull
Post by: Justin Falon on August 25, 2013, 09:16:00 PM
Looking for someone local to fix my Double Bull. Many of the rods have become lose/fallen out.  Don't want to send it to Primos.

You can do it yourself it's really easy.  Just order new rods and your good to go.

Justin, you might be able to fix it yourself. I have repaired the ends on the rods of mine for years. I have ordered the replacement ends before, but the last time i just took the hub apart and drilled out the broken tabs on the end of the rod caps and replaced them with a peice of brass rod that I epoxied in.

If you want more details PM me with your phone number and we can talk.

Over the years I've had to replace a few rods in mine.

The hard part is getting the screw out of the aluminum hub. (Be prepared to replace some screws.)

God bless,Mudd

I just got new rods from Primos for my DArkhorse blind. They only charged me for shipping. Call customer service...they are really pretty good.

Try Scheels I got rods right in the store!!Not in SF but in Bismark they handled parts because double bulls are always breaking .

I agree, try it yourself,  It is not that difficult.  I didn't break any (yet) but I removed and resized nearly all of mine because they were frankly too long.

Well, I just lost another few pounds sweating in the dark horse... I have two hubs to go. The top and one of the sides. One of the rods they sent was about 4" too long so I cut that off. I can see where it would be easy to do and the cheapskate that I am is not going to give up just yet. I now wonder about flipping it upside down so I can at least see a bit better to install those rods. I have not stripped a screw taking the hubs apart. Tell you what, my T2 shines against this monster. Pray for success!!!!!  thanks all.

Hmmmm. You might be going at it the wrong way. First, set up the blind as best you can.  Then remove the screw from the outside that holds the hub in place.  Then, go inside and pull out the entire four-spoke assembly.  Take the screw out of the inside cover to replace any rods that need replacing, and reverse the process to reinstall.

just contact primos and tell them what you need...hubs and rods.  they will send them to you and then you do the replacements yourself.  I have done that three or four times the past 6 years...especially on the rods as they have changed designs and material for the rods at least 3 times I am aware.

Orion got it. About the same time I did. If you take out the eyelet that holds the hub up, it's easy. Managed to not hurt myself in the process too. BLind is up. Two rods show significant wear. Phone call tomorrow will fix that. Thanks all!!
