RC started a great topic with homemade longbows and I thought we should include homemade recurves as well. I've made several recurves, longbows, and selfbows in the 70's and 80's and have hunted with them almost exclusively since. Here's a couple recurves I made; let's see some more.

Beautiful bow!
Quickblood, that is a really nice bow! I'd be proud of that. And the killl along with it! Nice job!
Thanks for the nice comments! They are actually 2 different bows; the first 2 pics are the same bow and the last pic is a different bow. I had enough left over materials that I made the 2nd one later on. They're both about 25 years old and still see time in the woods.
Ok I will play. Here is this years hope to break it in. (http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k592/jet26photos/602fcb1f-a8fd-464b-97c4-046b1990a0be.jpg)

Wow! Nice stuff.
I just made a one piece that a 50's style, don't know how to post pics though. My next will be a T/D.Great looking bows all you gentlemen.
This is my current recurve. It's a 60's style heavily modified Bingams design. It's 59" 45#@28" and shoots a 450 grn arrow @180fps. Walnut core, black glass, osage riser with osage and bubinga overlays and power lams. Super smooth and easy to shoot.

Awesome job!
There are some really skilled guys here! great bows!
You guy's are seriously talented. I would have to think it would be awful cool to be able to hunt with a bow that you made yourself, and a bonus to be able to harvest an animal with it.
Here's a picture of a Bamboo backed Recurve I build a few years ago.

I was fortunate to be able to see Brushwolf's handiwork in person on a hog hunt- and shoot a couple arrows- the pictures don't do them justice
The glue lines, shaping, and finish work is world class - but even more important they shoot fantastic!
All you guys do great work BTW
I gots a one pc, haven't hunted it yet, but will in a month or so.... :D

Great looking bows. Anyone else?
Another beautiful recurve that Burshwolf / Mike Tenley built for the bow trade 2012 and I was the lucky camper who got it :) Well I don't have or own a bow that I won't hunt and Mikes bow is no exception and it preformed flawlessly... about a hour after sunup this fella fell to Mikes bow. He gave me a quartering to me shot and I hugged the shoulder... we took out the lungs and the top of the heart... no tracking here...
Thank you Mike
Kip

I am always surprised with the works of art everyday bowyers can make, I'm astonished that you folks can pull together these masterpieces. Just for curiosity, how much time do you spend and how much in material cost do you have for your bows?
Kip that is an awesome deer. Congrats again. To make a bow and take game with is very rewarding. To make a bow for someone else that they take game with is even better. It puts a big smile on my face every time I see that pic. :bigsmyl:
BuckeyeGuy it really depends for me on what I put in it. Such as wood combo's limb cores etc. I have a bow that I have slowly been getting parts for. I will have well over $600 in material. Time wise I have never really kept track. Probably could have one done in a mouth if I worked on it every day.
That's pretty awesome, Brush. Now you guys have me wanting to try making one myself one day!
beautiful job guys....wow...
