Title: Camo backing
Post by: NEB on August 23, 2013, 11:51:00 AM
Guys, I saw a recent post where a Trad Ganger had a Schafer Silvertip made using some old pants fabric for the camo backing.  It made me wonder if anyone had tried to apply camo fabric like we apply snake skins?  I have a bow with some worn skins that I was thinking of trying it on.  What do you think it?

Just about any fabric can be,put on like skins using tite bond 3.
And then coating with the glue for waterproofing.
Some of the screen like camo works well.

Id steer away from heavy cloth as it could slow the bow speed a little. But if thats not a concern then anything will work.
Normally the thinner material the easier it is to work the titebond in to.

Thanks Ron.  I have an old lightweight cotton jacket that belonged to my grandfather that is three sizes to big for me and will not survive many more years (the stiching is rotting).  I bought a Morrison Cheyenne from the classifieds years ago and the snake skins are getting tattered.  I thought it would be a cool way to memorialize his coat and would look good with the ebony and bocote riser.

As macbow said.   I used a ripped uniform from my latest deployment. Applied it with TT3 as well. Very easy to do and they look great.
