Title: Aluminum arrow rec's
Post by: Wyohab on August 23, 2013, 03:08:00 AM
Can anyone recommend aluminum arrow spec's for a Black Widow SAIII 47#@28 that will be drawn 30in.?  I must get a bunch of arrows ordered quickly before departing the US for an extended period.  The arrows will be used primarily for stump shooting.

I would think 2018 would fly good with  full length shaft.

If you dont need an arrow as heavy grain weight as a 2018, the 2212 should work.

If you are drawing a true 30" and shooting a d 97 FF string I would go with a 2117, it will also hold up better stump shooting, you may need too play with tip weight a little, I shoot a 46#
@ 28 and draw 29" and shoot a 2018.

2216. works for me at 31" from 45Lb recurve with 125g heads, I think 2016 would be as good but i wanted the weight.

Edited, was 2219 sorry,  I have a  head ache

I'd lean toward the 2117, with 150-175 grains up front.  Choose a point weight, and shorten to tune.  I have a similar setup.

You will need something like a 2114, or similar deflection, at full length. Most of the other suggestions will be way too stiff.

2117 I think would be the best choice.

I would start with 2117s or 2020s.

If you are stump shooting why aluminum? Prone to bending. I would say carbon with aluminum footing.

Man, I like the sounds of the 2020 off of that bow experiment with length and point weight. r-man even if your arrows are full length I really think you are over spined my friend! Shawn

2020s are my favorit aluminum shaft for mid range bows.  2219 for heavy.

I have close to the same rig. You should try 2117 31" long and put a 160 or 145 head. I tried all of the other shafts listed and found the 2117 the ticket.

I shoot a widow pmax 46#@30 with 30.5" shafts. Widow recommended 2216 for my set up. I can shoot both 2020 with 125 points cut 30.5 BOP and 2216 with 145 points cut 30.5. Since you would be pulling over 50# with your set up I think 2020, 2117, and 2216 would be more in line with your needs depending upon point weight and BOP length of arrows.
