I just got done shooting and setting up my Dale Dye for hunting this year. Anybody have a bow that shoot great with a 8" + brace height. its a 62" TD Dale Dye. my string broke or started to break so I put on a string from my Morrison to see how it would shoot and the first thing I saw was o man that's to big of a brace height took it down a few twist and shot it for HAHAHAs.
It was awesome shoots even better then before, I have been shooting for over 25years and never had one that high or least never tried it.
Anyone else that high?? I mean Brace height !!

I shoot the widow in my sig and I normally kept it aroung 7 5/8 but my archery guy I know who shoots trad quite a bit suggested I try 8 and I really like it! I think it brought down the noise considerably.

My KMag I have at ~8-8 1/4
-
My Phantom recurve is set at 8 1/4" and my Banshee recurve is set at 9 1/4". They both shoot great!
-
Damon Howatt - Coronado and Hunter
Bear - Kodiak Magnum
All shoot great at 8"
-
MA II Widow, 60" 60# @28 set at 8.25 inches. Actually all my Widows MA's and PMA shoot best for me at 8.25, throat of grip to string.
-
my widow's brace height is 8 5/8 and shoots like a dream.
-
Lots of my bows are right at 8"s, none lower than 7.5"s. My new Caribow Tukto EX shoots best at 7.75"s. Shawn
-
My new Bear Kodiak is braced at 8" from low point of the grip.
-
I shoot my Dryad Orion ACS RC recurve at 8" brace.I shoot my Martin/Howatt Hunter at 7&3/8",just depends on the bbow and tunning.

Black widow manual actually suggests up to 9" brace height for their PMA and PSA. I find mine shoots best and quieter at 8 3/4" .

My Habu Bushmaster from 1999 loves a 8-8 1/4 brace height.
-
Every one of my Dale Dye's has a brace height of 8-8 1/8".
As I recall, in Dale's Trail's End brochure (not sure if he still sends it out), he states that brace heights should be between 7.5 and 8.5".
-
It would be nice if you guys would state whether you are measuring brace height from the back of the shelf or deepest part of the grip throat. On most of my bows that accounts for at least 1/2" difference.
-
69 grizzly 8 1/4, think brace height should be measured from deepest part of your grip.
-
65 kmag 8 1/2
-
My Quinn Stallion shoots best at 8" also..Black Widow PTF is at 8-1/4".
-
Wow and I feel bad if I have to take any of my bows over 7 1/4 for good stability. I knew that many of the older bows have a brace of 8 plus,. specially in the lighter weights , but didn't realize so many of the new models did.
Interesting thread.
God bless, Steve

I measure from the inside of the grip and was shooting again today the bow never shot this good for me before its like a new bow.

Dude ;)
-
Doubt the bow has encrypted some type of preferred brace ht. for your set-up...
Would be more inclined to believe the bow may be shouting out its preferred BH per your set-up.
-
Yeah john that's Dude can't wait to see Colorado buddy!!
-
My 64" Blacktails are all right around 8". I'm slightly over the recommended range but find the little extra brace height really quiets down the bows.
-
My Bob Lee with 62" limbs is 8 1/8 and is quiet.
-
Beautiful bow Gary. With your breathtaking arrows you should be in good shape.
-
Gary - Colorado will begin its journey to CT tomorrow
-
I measure from deepest part of the grip which is standard...
-
Gary, at 8", you are beyond what Bob Morrison recommends for his Shawnees. You may want to talk with him before you settle on it as your new "normal" for that bow...
