Title: Lam formulas for longbows
Post by: StanM on September 04, 2007, 07:13:00 PM
This year in my archery class I'm going to try and build a reflex/deflex form for my students to use.  I've got the straight limb bows down as far as laminations go, but I don't have any idea what laminations to use for reflex/deflex forms.

I'm planning on having the the form deflex an inch and then reflex two inches, putting the tips of the limbs one inch back of the handle.  Sound okay?

Given that, does anyone have a rough formula that they could share that would bring bows of 64-66" in at 30, 35, 40 or 45 pounds?

All help is appreciated.

Stan

I have to use the SWAG theory (scientific wild-a$$ guess)on the first off a form. I'll go out on a limb here, you're not usin too much deflex or reflex,so I'm guessin it won't be far off from the strait bows. I'd drop .010 to .020 from the strait chart and give it a go if it was me. JMVHO  :wavey:

Thanks Kenny, looks like I might have to give your SWAG theory a whirl.
