on a rare day off i went for a long walk on a ridge i hunt often. i wanted to check how much damage occured during the last ice storm, man was i suprised! everything was coated in ice, yound and old trees alike bent over from the stress. trees and limbs every where!! not an animal to be seen the whole walk. many times branches fell around me with a couple near misses, was not a real good time to be in the woods but i do so love them! the trees just seem to sparkle with the ice and everything is so fresh and beautifull. i cut one set of deer dear traviling together. as they neared a stream they both seemed to be very cautious allthough the stream was very small. guess they just knew in weather like this one slip could be fatal. at the edge of the stream they both paused and shuffled around a bit to determine if it was safe and then they jumped. just looked really neat to me as you could read where they were deciding (instincts) what to do.

this is where they landed.

i walked up to a huge ridge where i have a stand on the top, the same stand i missed a doe from this year with my longbow. heres a pic of the cliff before i climbed up.

thanks for sharing again Ken! Man i miss snow!! down here in ole VA it has been in the 60's and higher except for a few cold snaps. this week it's started to feel like winter again. i was just out in northern CA, Donner Pass, and they had a FOOT of snow while i was there! I love snow and it was really nice to see that much of it and walk around in it.
enjoy the day,
Kyle

Ken,
Great pics thanks for sharing. Keep an eye on those newly created downfalls, the last big ice storm we had here created some of the best bottlenecks I have ever hunted.

Great pictures, and thanks for the walk. Little to cold for this old body anymore but it brings back memories when we lived in the rockies. Our house set at 9,280 ft. You have that ...love the mountain...look. Enjoy.

without a doubt the mountains are my home, i'm amazed by the beauty every time i go. was scary at times today as limbs were falling evrywhere. wonder how many more trees will be down this weekend, lots of snow piling up and there is allready alot of ice.
Mike,
i really hate weraing shirts man! think i can make it through the brush at Shawns shirtless???
Ron,
i'm still tinkereing with the camera but have it down pretty good, many thanks to your wife for the tech help with it!
Chuck,
yeah man were birds of a feather!
Joe,
the quiver is a side stalker type that was made for me by Mich Mtnman ( Jamie Burleigh ). it rides very nice and i wear it often.
Chort,
i LOVE the cold weather and heavy snow. just something so powerfull about a storm and cold front. i was not going to post it on this thread but for Shawns bunny hunt, Woodchucker and myself have been doing a snow dance bring on some good hunting snow. well today on my walk, just before the top of a ridge i thought what a better place for a snow dance so i took my shirts off and did the 2 step as i asked the Creator for a little more snow, heres the pic's of the snow dance, i warn ya if you don't want to see an overweight red neck shirtless don't look down!!!! :scared: :scared:

Last picture looks like you sort of froze in that position. We got some of that white stuff last night here in Prescott but it looks warm compared to the pictures of those NY hills. Grew up in NW Pa. and have memories of those cold mountains. Good hunting ........Chort

Reminds me of my hunting camp, Kenny! That is a beautiful place that you are fortunate to walk.
Falk!!! NICE LAIGS!! I hadda save that in with Ron La Claire's infamous loincloth shot. I figure we can hijack this further, so here is one of me in my underwear. "If going to the bathroom involves boots and a flashlight..."
Ayup.
