Title: cool brown bear track
Post by: chinook907 on August 17, 2013, 03:39:00 PM
Season opens in ~2 weeks.

Found these last night along a river.
.
From a bit of a distance.  Love the claw marks from the track on the right.

And the other track with a tape for scale.

Have you ever taken  plaster cast of these? It'd be one way of having a bear in you man cave.

I was talking with a couple of fellows yesterday who have had lots of experience with grizzlies and the work their claws will do...the way I understand things a Brown bear is essentially a grizzly on steroids...hard to imagine what those claws would be capable of doing powered by an even more massive bear

Man, I loved seeing those big brownies when I was in Alaska. You live in some wonderful country. Hope you are packing a big handgun!

Thanks guys.

Achigan- I've looked into casting and may get some dental stone sometime and give it a try. The mud there was very firm, it would have cast well I think.

Pat - I will be carrying when the time comes, but fairly modest sized, a .41 mag.
