Title: Thanks to a couple of Trad Gangers
Post by: Bladepeek on August 14, 2013, 07:44:00 PM
I guess this has nothing to do directly with Trad bowhunting, but then it also has everything to do with it.

I'd like to thank Mr Trad Gang for re-posting his regimen for working up in bow weight. I have no intentions of ever drawing an 80# or 90# longbow, but I'm recovering from a rotator cuff tear (don't ask - it's embarrassing). I'm past the healing stage and starting in on the strengthening exercises. I'm going to use Terry's method every odd numbered day of the month.

I've been suffering from arthritis and especially lower back pain and was talking about my shoulder injury with our Two Tracks sponsor and Chuck turned me on to a really great book, "Pain Free". So I've been working on my back, which includes some thigh work as part of it. I can jog up the stairs now and I'm no where near as stiff as I normally am. This will be my even numbered day workout.

Thanks guys. You may keep me shooting and hunting for a long time yet. And if a heart attack or a gravel truck gets me before this season is over, I'll go out with a smile on my face enjoying our great sport.

Ron - Try to get a 2 oz jar of Arnica. Some Vitamin Shops carry it, but your best bet is on Amazon. I had double fusion of my L4-L5 L5-S1 lumbar on May 6, and this stuff is amazing. You just rub a small amount into your aching muscles and you get instant relief. I just hiked up Chimney Rock last week and charged(well, stumbled) with Kemper's Brigade reenactors at Gettysburg on July 3.
The workout is longer, and you get stronger faster.

Thanks Tony. I'll check it out.

Gotta run. The wife wants me to ride around our lake on our bikes and check out a bunch of yard sales. That's something I normally never do (yard sales) but who knows what trad treasures might be waiting   :)

Stay with the "Pain Free" program, I have been a believer for a few years now.
I have a couple of herniated discs in my back and it has helped me a lot.
