Title: To the quiver builders
Post by: swampsnyper on August 14, 2013, 02:49:00 PM
Could someone build a bow quiver with an open hood (no Foam). Probably gonna have to have to arrow grippers but it would be nice to not have to stick my sharp broadheads in foam and be able to turn my arrows so my feathers don't touch one another. Something like a bohning lynx quiver but with some leather and traditional appeal!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

I have thought about this as well....not an empty hood,  but rather a bristle design....soft rubber, latex,  whatever.  So when the broadhead is inserted into the hood,  the blades PART the bristles....as opposed to CUTTING into foam.  I had this thought when cleaning my 4 month old daughers bottles....my better half purchased this special drying apparatus/rack....its a bed of fake plastic grass.  You put the baby bottles and their parts onto/into the blades of grass and this allows them to dry without sitting in moisture.    I thought,  a quiver hood set up sorta like this would hold broadheads just perfect....and not muck up the razor edges!!!
Mr. Dill...if you are reading this and come up with something,  Id be perfectly happy field testing it for ya!!!  :biglaugh:

I'd rather it open. I've used an empty hood on my compound for years. Its just a shield around to protect it from bumping on stuff. The 2 grippers hold the arrows tight. No need for anything in the hood it would just take up space that you could use to keep it as small as possible. You could store 2 blades, 3 blades, 4 blades, blunts, etc.

Get the 2 holder Kwickee Kwiver (for expandable heads) and have a sponsor wrap it in leather.

Shame a fella couldn't make a broadhead quiver that had several sharpners in the hood. One for every broadhead so you every time you stuck the arrow in your quiver it would sharpen itself.

A lot of good ideas here let's keep them coming. It drives me nuts when my feathers touch!

I tried searching for a build along on wrapping a hood with leather. Anyone came across a thread like that?

I've wondered if a fella could cover a quiver hood with snakeskin and give it a trad look?

Eric

We have prototype quivers and all kinds of crazy stuff laying around.....some pretty neat and others rather fugly. That's the fun part of a new product though.....testing it on a hunt!!!   :)

Why not just pull the foam out of a hood and stick a layer of thin foam or something like plumber's putty in the bottom, something that wouldn't stick to the broadhead?
