Post by: mumbles on August 14, 2013, 10:43:00 AM
Welp ordered a new Vista sage looks like a samick just under a different name .Cant wait ! got it with the 45lb limbs I have a short draw 26.5 with my hoyt  compound so I figured be around 40lbs ? Should be here tomorrow . Just debating whether I should go to the pro shop and get set-up or do it myself ? Hardest part would be choosing arrows I guess .

Do it yourself----I agree with Bear Heart---most of these "pro shops" cater to the wheelie guys and they know little or nothing about trad bows.

I agree with both RkyMtn Joe and Bear Heart, UNLESS you are fortunate to have a trad shop nearby. I count my trad bow shop as one of the greatest assets available   :)   The guy really knows his stuff and gets my business whenever possible.

The last pro shop guy I talked to wanted to string my recurve with the step through method. I tried to explain about the dangers of limb twist and why it is better to use a bow stringer. He looked at me like I was from Mars. Just beware.

I only go to the "pro-shops" to buy things like field points, nock sets, etc. Asked for 250 grain broadheads one time and they thought I was weird.
Yep, set it up yourself, and don't ask them what arrows you need either!!   :banghead:

I agree with everyone else set it up yourself, unless you have a trad shop near you.

www.tollgatearchery.com (http://www.tollgatearchery.com)  If you're willing to make a drive, George & Margaret both have a wealth of trad knowledge and can help you with any questions you have. Not to mention there's a lot of NY guys a short distance away who are always willing to help
