I recently bought a 10x10 cabelas alaknak tent made by Montana canvas. I'm looking for a good, durable, lightweight stove that has a long burn time. I need stove, pipe, etc. to be under 20lbs, and not break the bank. Must be packable. Preferences????
Light weight and long burn times don't go together. Simms,Riley,Kni-co, are contenders for light and affordable. Four Dog Titanium will get you light but expensive.
The long burn times are the large,heavy weights from Cylinder, Four Dog steel, etc. Mt Canvas and Outfitters Supply sell a few of these.
The big versions of all these stoves will run you out of that tent easily.
What ever you decide do me a favor and build a fire in it outside the tent first.
My buddy bought a stove that came with galvanized pipe, fortunately he happened to have it shipped to my house. I unpacked it and burned it off.

Question - what is the material of your tent? I owned an Alaknak and it wasn't canvas though I wish it would have been. If you have a canvas model - I want to know where you got it because the tent design is great.
I had the 9.5'x 9.5' size and you don't need much heat in it. If your tent is the coated synthetic material it is definately water proof but it does NOT breath so condensation can be an issue. Therefore no propane heaters as water is a by product of it's combustion. Also, the material will melt the instant a hot coal, ash, etc. touches it so I would advise getting the extra "spark protector tarp" or whatever they call it.
I had the stove that Cabelas sold with the tent originally and it would flat out roast you out of the tent - we had to have the door open alot. I can't recommend a specific stove except to say - get a small one and realize you will have to stoke it during the night.
Check out Seek Outside's titanium options, and their stainless XXL stove. They're good stoves, and very packable.

Pete, I think the tent I got is just like the one you describe. It's not canvas but a heavy duty tent type material. Ran into an older gentleman hat had it for years and only used it once. He was glad to sell it to someone that would use it.

The fold-up sheet metal stoves are just awful in my opinion, you'll be feeding them wood all night long. A compromise is the welded steel, half barrel type stoves but you still end up stoking them every three hours or so. I don't know of a long-burn stove that is truly lightweight and portable.
