So I'm pretty well done buying longbows, cept for maybe a Whip for myself after buying one for my brother.
Still searching for 'the' recurve to love...well I up and bought a brand new Robertson Fatal Styk, 62" 50@28 (prolly 53-55 at my draw) cocobolo and juniper. I did this because A. I need to start buying some new stuff and stop buying other people's bows and B. my good buddy on TG 'JeffG' has one and can't stop gushing about how great it shoots and what a nice grip it has. I've been eyeing Robertsons for a good while now. They have a timeless shape to them, and the wood selections from Dick are always extraordinary.
So who else has one and tell me how you love it?
Pics of mine later this week when it arrives from Montana.
I've got one, picked it up in the classifieds. Mine is 60", 45#@28", cocobolo riser and juniper limb veneers. Like you said, very nice grip, pretty wood, nice fit and finish...what's not to like?
Great shooting bow... :archer2:
Yep I love mine in every way, great grip, quiet, fast, forgiving... and great folks to work with.

WHOA!!! Beautiful ............ is the finish a matt?
Wow!!! Wait til I get pics- some of the nicest coco and juniper I've ever seen is on mine. Due to arrive Thursday...
yeah the finish is a flat finish but still shows the wood detail/figure very well.
I bought mine from the classifieds about 6 months old...I was shooting it this morning and thinking about how many arrows have already crossed the shelf...it is the 60 inch Z version, 54 pounds marked and 60 at my draw length...I wanted a bow from Montana and really did not know much about it...it is my number two bow to my RER LXR which is pretty good company as you know...the materials are cocobolo/myrtle riser and very interesting myrtle veneers...it shoots so well for me I tend to forget how great it looks...just for fun count the number of bamboo core lams...you might be surprised
I don't have remind you how great they are. I named mine majik. For obviousness reasons
Man that looks good!
I went with the one piece tribal styk. Sweet shooting bow. It's a keeper for sure.
That is a killer looking bow!

Love mine! Sweet and ultra smooth, 64".
60" 54lb at 28" with checkered grip. One of the best ,(if not the best Recurve I have ever had). Enjoy!!
mines 60" 51#, cant say enough about them.... would love to have a TribalStyk 1 piece.
My Fatal Styk has been one of the best bows I have ever owned. Sadly, it is wrapped up in a box right now waiting to be dropped off at the post office.
Yep, I sold it. I just bought a brand new RER a couple of weeks ago. Two days later I found out that I drew a great elk tag in Utah. I would have taken a big hit selling the new one, so the Robertson was the most likely candidate to bring what I needed.
I'm going to miss this one. And someday I am sure I will have another back in the stable.
Dang Matt. That is beautiful!
I am been a Robertson fan for long time, still one of my favourite bows.Quiet, stable and plenty fast.
Cool guys, keep it comin. I'm feeling great about this purchase and can't wait to feel the grip and shoot her. Cacciatore I saw a couple older posts where you and whip and a few others sung the high praises for Robertson. Good stuff, seems like I made a great choice in a recurve.
nineworlds9,I have/had at least 15 of Dick's bows and none had disappointed me,plus I have ordered several dozens for friends and every single one is still shooting and loving his Robertson.
One of, if not, the best. Great grip, great looks, great performance.
I had a FatalStyk and really liked it, but moved it to make room for something else. I have a TribalStyk and took a nice bear with it this spring. I love the way Dick puts the shelf right on top of your hand.
I recently picked up one of Dick's old Peregrine 50's style recurves. It might be the highest performing bow I have ever owned, and I have owned most of them. This thing is a rocket with arrows weighing 11 gpi.
D.P.
I sold a Timberline longbow with every intention of using the money to buy a 58" Fatalstyk. I even called Dick to ask when the best time to order would be. Then I agreed to take a Robertson longbow in trade and there went my new Fatalstyk. I am keeping the Robertson longbow.
Ok here are some pics of mine to get you more impatient (http://i.imgur.com/6GWKmg8.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/tbUBAiX.jpg)
So which level of Fatal Styk did you order...I love the way the Z version looks...if I was going to buy a new one it would be the econo version...shoot just as well and cost a whole lot less

Ah Jeff you're killin me. Thursday isn't coming fast enough. Dave, mines an X just like Jeff's but its a Cocobolo riser instead of Bocote and Juniper limbs instead of Bocote. It's absolutely frickin gorgeous, can't wait to show pics!!
I have 5 fatal styks and raven styk limbs for 2 of the them plus one wolfer , all are fantastic shooters and dick is the master of natural beauty. My all time favorite bows.
She came today!!! Great scot what a bow! So freakin gorgeous. It's amazing how the wood shows through the satin finish. The juniper, gosh. The grip is the best I've ever felt on a recurve. It rivals my Habu, might be better!? Soo comfortable. Just natural. The bow has just enough mass. It is actually kinda lightweight, but the balance is superb! Strung her up, first pull...WOW! Buttah. Only thing remotely similar in draw recurve-wise for me was a set of Border Hex 5 limbs. This bow was makin my head swim. Got outside and let three loose at about 15-17 yds with no tuning yet. First arrow low, second high, third bullseye!! No problem. Just wait till she's dialed in! The cherry?!: just a string and whiskers and she is hands down the quietest recurve I have ever shot. And I'm a super stickler for quiet bows, being a 'longbow' guy. Fellas, I wasn't sure but this one is now 100% a keeper. I'm a Robertson man for life. Sensational bow.

Man you sound excited :bigsmyl:
The coolest part is that somehow or another Dick or Yote chose to write 'Vision Falcon' above the Fatal Styk identifier on the limb. Neato! I'm in love.

Beautiful bow! I would be excited as well. Congrats!
I need a bow with juniper veneers! That thing is gorgeous! Hope she shoots half as good as it is purty!
I have deleted all my pics but sure they are online somewhere...

This was my cocobola and myrtle riser with bamboo cores and juniper veneers under clear glass. I sold to gentleman in Mississippi, Alabama or Louisianna...he sold it afterwards.
it was a great shooting bow...
I have a Vision Falcon now with two sets of limbs that is every bit as nice a bow....
You cant go wrong with a Robertson.
Great Looking Bow! :bigsmyl:
Pretty bow. Robertson makes one of the best. I love mine.
Just went outside with mine and put a cold shot broadhead into my target right where I was looking...I am going to hunt with my Howatt Hunter this fall and my Fatal Styk as a back-up...just gotta get in tight on a nice bull elk
DDave
A real beauty Chuck,Congrats.
Thanks guys. It's a looker and a shooter. JeffG my pal was 100% right about his and I thank him for pointing me toward a Robertson. The Rob, the Habu, and my Stewart are my definite keeper bows. Everything else, we'll see.
I'm pretty sure that this bow will be a major booster shot to curing me of my classifieds addiction. I pray that it is actually. LOL
Nice lookin' stick!
Bisch
I just bought a beauty with 2 sets of limbs and can't decide to put it on my site or hold onto it. They are SWEET!
My Robertson cured me of my classifieds addiction...I have bought less than a dozen bows since I got it..well maybe not cured exactly
DDave
Great looking bow Chuck.......and it's a lefty! :goldtooth:
 :goldtooth:
Great looking bow, almost identical to mine... :archer2:
That's a beauty, I have the same wood combo in my Vision Falcon in my avatar.
Ron (Brock)
You sold your bow to me for and it is a very fine bow. Some bows just aren't meant to be. Certainly not a knock on a well crafted shooting machine.
That is some really nice juniper, and looks like you are enjoying her!

I wish it weren't the truth. Really though, this is my first 'brand new' bow besides my Stewart limbs that I'm waiting on, and I will say there's something special about pulling a bow out of the package that is 100% yours just how you want it with hardware that fits so tightly because it's only been assembled to test it before delivery. She's all mine.
One reason I bought this particular bow ist that the juniper looks like flames, I'm a firefighter, it was a natural match. Awesome bow all around. I think the only other bow I want to buy new in the foreseeable future is a 2 pc Toelke Whip.
Here is how much sense my buying pattern makes...what I really ought to do is buy a set of longbow limbs to make a 64 inch longbow with my Fatal Styk riser...I just keep balking at paying 500 dollars for a new set...at the same time I have spent over 1700 dollars so far this year on bows...and to top that I have now decided that I am going to mostly hunt this year with my Howatt Hunter that I paid 230 dollars for...good thing there is no requirement in our game regulations that we have to make sense
