58", 53#@28", Tigerwood and wenge. static tips.
man, this thing is sweet! beautiful workmanship. beautiful woods. draws smoothly, and WOW, is it whisper-quiet?! right out of the box, it is quieter than any recurve i own. i took a couple of shots close up to warm up, then went back to a good distance (turned out to be 23 yards after i paced it off), and BAM!, right where i was looking.
i'm gonna like this gal! and it got from Wisconsin to south Alabama in two days. wow! (http://%20 [/IMG]

Nice!
Whoa, very nice....
:notworthy: :notworthy:
Beautiful
Other than being cut to wrong shelf, I think I could get along well with that bow.
Its a nice one.
Very nice! I had the same bow (Retro), but with tiger wood and walnut. It turned out just a bit heavy for me to shoot a lot, but Kevin made me a good offer to take it back toward an LXR 5# lighter to be delivered at the Kalamazoo Expo. It was one hot bow and not a trace of stacking at 29". A friend has an Arroyo very similar. Those RER static tips are definitely sweet.
Good looking bow,congratulations!
Great Looking Bow!
Welcome to the RER club of Static bow owners..Well I know a few here that already responded are RER Arroyo fans and I'm one...
Congratu.lations on a beuty..
Very nice!
Nice bow.
I bet it knocked your socks right off.
John
Beautiful bow! I owned an Arroyo, and I really regret letting it go. Could you tell me the difference between the Retro and the Arroyo? They look incredibly similar. I gotta get with Kevin again!
Pokerdaddy, I've had both. I think the Retro has a somewhat slimmer '50s style grip and MIGHT be a little slimmer throughout. I'm sure Kevin could explain it better. Talk to him, but don't slow him down. I'm really looking forward to my LXR :)
Ron
Nice bow! I have a RER XR static recurve. Quietest bow (any bow) I've ever owned. Only brush buttons and 1 set of beaver balls on the string.
Thanks Bladepeek. I've also had an LX and an XR. Kevin makes some great bows, for sure.
Good looking bow!
For all u soon to be jealous folks out there... I get to fondle it tonight! Johns coming by to let me check it out
Dave
Beautiful! I would change the side plate though.
Me too - to the other side :)
Ron (Bladepeek) is correct. The Arroyo has a little bit of a "fatter" (more stout?) handle. the Retro has a bit of a slimmer grip, which is what made me choose it over the Arroyo. i have been shooting an impossibly skinny-gripped, tiny Sheepeater Spirit for a pretty good while, so even this grip is a bit of an adjustment for me. but i'm telling you guys, this bow is the quietest recurve i've ever shot, with just cat whiskers on it.
also, the bow Ron had was the inspiration for my bow. Kevin never actually said for sure, but the Tigerwood in this one may have even come from the same board!
i am gonna kill a deer with this bow this year, guys. i just know it. amazing shooter!
Great classic looking combo.
Ron, it's on the right (left) side for us, haha!
Sweeeet looking bow. Shelf is on the right side too.
Fine looking bow you've got there JohnnyK
Nice bow, i love the wood
Update:
Last week I had a chance to visit kevin and sue, and they had just finished a 58" 47lb Retro. (RH).... All I can say is I was very very impressed. Great grip similar to the XR, but a bit smaller. Stock bow just finished up, kevin zip tied on a set of Cat Whiskers... LONGBOW quiet. Based on the good reviews from Retro ownders here, I went in with high expectations. Once I picked it up, I immediately ordered mine. Should be here in May...
Can't wait... :jumper:
RER bows are some of the best.
Wow! That's a looker! I love those limbs!
Bernie
Great looking bow! What will be your hunting setup? What arrows, quiver, and broadheads will you use?
Sweet Retro and a lefty also! Kevin builds some great bows!
Bet we're going to see another good looking retro soon. Did you say May, Mitch :)
Kevin has a real eye for color matches. No matter what woods he combines, they seem to work well together.
The Retro is going to be 43lbs at 28"s... Not sure on arrow combo or broadheads yet.
Pictures will be up in May.
I'm also getting a 58" XR, All bocote, Kevin showed me the bocote and it looked awesome...
I'll have the 1 piece recurve I always wanted and a takedown for traveling.....
I've got to thank Ron specifically for his glowing review on this Retro.... It was everything he said it was and MORE.....
:knothead: :knothead: If I wait much longer, I may get another Retro....
:archer2: nice looking bow...
not only is that a good looking bow it's also great to see a GREEN LEAF.
Excellent!!
cool to see this thread come back up. still loving this bow as much as when i first got it. it made meat on deer and a turkey this fall, and i'm ready to get out for some 3-D shooting.
it likes a heavy arrow. this past season, I shot GT 7595's cut to 31.5", with a 100 grain brass insert and 150-grain Magnus Stingers. maybe a little stiffer than most people would go, but it shot great for me with 250 grains up front.
Nice bow but he put the shelf on the wrong side:)
Thanks to Johnny'k as well his pm also set me up for this..
Pics of mine coming in May.....
Kevin sold the one he just built last weekend :knothead: :knothead:
You guys are killin' me with these new RER's...lucky dogs!It has me hankerin' for another.Maybe a Vital,or another Arroyo or......Oh,the temptation! :banghead:
