Title: D-97 or D-10 on Quinn Comet?
Post by: Ifrit617 on August 04, 2013, 08:59:00 PM
Just picked up a 2009 Quinn Comet recurve and was curious if I could put a D-97 or D-10 fast flite string on it safely? It's a great shooting little bow.

I knew David Quinn, he designed his bows to use D-97 fast flight, why they have phenolic tips. Oh yeah, my name is Sam and I am a Quinaholic!

I like D10 better. It has less creep for me. My brace height stays the same all the time with it. My D97 string kept stretching all the time. I leave my bow strung all the time.

Since it's made to accept "high performance" materials, you might try 8190.  It's the same material as Dynaflight (Dyneema), just a much higher grade than either one.  '97 is SK75, '10 is SK78, 8190 is SK90.

With the same diameter string (not strand count--they are all different diameter strands) the 8190 will have noticeably less stretch and creep, and be more durable.
