Thanks to all that sent well wishes and prayers. The operation went good and now the wait begins before I can put weight on the new ankle and start walking again. Unlike knees and hips that they get you up and walking right away I will be in a cast for 6=8 weeks with no weight baring. I'll be getting around on crutches and a knee scooter.
I'm still taking some pain meds so I am a bit unsteady on my crutches. I put up two trail cams in my favorite elk spots before I went in for the ankle so I'll post them when I get them all. I got some really nice ones last year.
Best to ya, Ken
Happy to hear everything went well! You will up and running in no time.
Wishing you a speedy and full recovery. :campfire:
Heal fast!!!!
Wishing you the best Ken.....
You have all my best wishes for a full recovery and I'm guessing next year will see you heading up and down the best of those hills.
Good luck and heal up!

Prayers for a full and speedy recovery.Go slow and do what the Dr.says and you'll be bugling again in no time. :nono:
The elk woods are waiting for you so mind the doctor's orders.
Gald to hear the surgery went well! Heal up so you can share those pix....Ryan
Yes I have learned the hard way on following the Dr's orders. I will be on my best behavior
Best of luck on it and look foward to some elk pics!
Glad you are healing well, but don't rush it. Follow the doctor's instructions and work hard on the physical therapy. You will be back in the woods before you know it.
Hope you are able to kick some butt with that foot again, before too long.
Glad to hear everything went ok for you. Be sure and keep up with the PT when your doctor sends you. They can make all the difference in the world on a quick recovery.I have one of those fake hips and it was a long road for me but i actually enjoyed the PT.
Prayers sent for continued healing Elkken!
Lookin' forward to those trail cam pics of the big bulls!
Keep the wind in your face!
Shoot straight, Shinken

X3 on the physical therapy! I had an ankle rebuilt 3 yrs. ago after "over celebrating" my birthday and falling on the ice. I didn't do any P/T and my ankle STILL isn't right! So work hard when they tell ya it's ok to do so, and God bless ya with a speedy & FULL recovery!
Good luck. I am sure you will be fine and chashing elk before you know it.
I'm 6 months out from a hip replacement and the patience required is pretty huge. I'm starting to get around quite well, so the time is ripe for overdoing it! Steady as she goes...
Good luck on the recovery. Doing the "stupid " little exercises seems like a waste of time, until you find some of them are tough at first!
Slowly takes on a whole new meaning.
It will no doubt be a loonnnggg 6-8 weeks, but hope all is worth it in the end. It's so hard for me to even comprehend how they can replace things like that. Simply amazing!
Wow, going to be a tough season. Hang in there! Just think what you will be able to do after your full recovery.
If you need someone to carry you into those elk holes give me a shout.
Best of luck on the recovery....take your time!!
Best of luck in your recovery!
Best of recovery wishes to you ElkKen. And best of luck with your upcoming season. I have a good friend that just had his knee replaced, and man o' man I feel for the guy. So honestly Ken,I wish you well. rat'
My hunting partner had both his knees replaced this year. First in Feb and second one in June. His is doing great and has been an inspiration for me to get this done. He is out hiking and biking and will be able to make the early hunting season. I'm shooting for the late season that starts around Thanksgiving. I put in for points this year instead of tag draws because I knew I would not be in any kind of shape to do and hard hunting.
I'll live vicariously through you guys this year, so I wish you all the very best and safe hunting.
best to ya, Ken
I didn't know about this Ken. I'm glad everything went well. Get recovered. Thanks again for your help :)
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery :archer:
Glad to hear it all went well and ya on the mend :clapper:
Great to hear that all went well, Ken. Hopefully the waiting game will go quickly as well.
Bob
Elkken, my wife had her's done 5-6 years ago. She got a RX from her Doc. for a knee walker from a medical supply store.
Ask your Doc. about it. It made it real easy to get around. Good luck.
Great News Ken. Listen to the Doc, cant wait for the elk photos!
Thanks Alan ...I have the knee scooter and I practiced with it before surgery. I am going to give it a try tonight. Much easier than getting around on crutches. I see the doc tomorrow for my first follow up, right now I'm feeling pretty good.
Been through 2 knee surguries and one foot. I wish you the best. Healing is the easy part sitting still during the healing is the hardest part. Good luck and pray all goes well.
Ken, glad to hear you are doing well and following the Doctors instructions. Here's to a quick recovery!
Bet of luck to you Ken!
Take care and get well. Man, I've never heard of an ankle replacement. Holy cow!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! :archer2:
Dr apt went well today, I saw the Xrays showing the ankle implant. It is actually three pieces, the top one is connected to your Tibea leg bone, a center piece of surgical plastic that acts like your cartilage and the bottom piece that is attached to your top ankle bone. The incision looked good and they put me in a new light blue cast that I'll have on for two weeks. Then the Dr decides if it stays on or I get another on for the remaining five weeks. You cannot put weight on the foot for 6-8 weeks and then I go to PT.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes, I greatly appreciate the support.
Wow...you bionic man you!! :bigsmyl:
That sounds pretty cool... What will be even neater is when you can start doing things with your prosthetic ankle like hopping on one foot!
You'll be taking the Mrs out dancing here by next Spring with 2 new ankles!
Pulling for ya, Ken!
