Had a limb break on a Black Swan recurve.  They carry a one year warranty so I was out of luck.  I do hear that the owner is a little bit hard to get along with but that is second hand info.

People seem to be castigated for any negative responses.

That's my understanding from what I have been hearing for Blackswan:their limbs are pron to twisting or breaking.i don't know if those were their old limbs or their new ones they have up on the website.also on Archers review, the guy says their hybrid longbow is amazing but at the same time he says that the limbs need tender love and care...
Also if somebody has shot a Qarbon nano 2 please chime in

Well, Steve, I guess if there are significant negatives one would want to know about them. How else do you find out if not by asking?

If I ever heard a particular brand of bow was prone to twisting or breaking, I wouldn't need any more info.  Thats probably why the mods quash the negative comments pretty quick.  It wouldn't take much to ruin a bowyers rep.

Only time I ever heard of a bowyer saying the string he sent with the bow was the reason a limb twisted... and it was a longbow

I would recommend PMs for the negative responses because everyone tends to really remember the negatives when they hear it.  That's not fair for the bowyers.

Once when I PM'd a guy about a bow he bought, I got a pretty bad story about a high-profile bowyer here on TradGang.  Complete with pictures and a detailed explanation.   I won't take a chance with one of those bows, but neither will I name that bowyer in a public forum.  It's just not fair.  And everyone makes mistakes... even a good bowyer.  It's like accusing someone of molesting children... once the accusation gets out, they get labeled, whether guilty or not. And it is of little use for that bowyer to try to defend himself or his work, because the damage has already been done.

Oh, and it was not one of the two mentioned in this the thread, either.

I have a set of the nano limbs on a phenolic riser i built. At 42 # they shoot harder than many bows of much more weight. They are extremely quiet and fast. The quality is unmatched.

I have 2 Black Swan bows. A 13" riser and 18" riser. 50# Hybrid and 39# Recurve limbs. I like that I can mix and match limbs and risers making either 58" or 62" bows. Nothing but great experience with Arvid and his bows. Smooth Speed and quiet...   I see no reason to listen to second hand experiences.

Any bowyer can have a bow or bows fail it's how BOTH sides handle that event that counts, threads like this are counter productive. Just my opinion.

I don't see how a thread like this can be counterproductive. So far nobody has came out publicly ,trashing any bowyer.Even if they did, this is a public forum and everybody's name can be found if you click on their icon.So if somebody posted something negative they have the rensposibility of their own words.I don.t understand why we should protect bowyers like that. Are they sacred creatures or something? They ran s bussines and if their product is not good I would like to know about it.
And yes everybody can make a bow that is not good but it is the customer service after that that is really importanr. Thanks to everybody that posted so far and to the people that send me PM

Everyone seems to have focused on the posters request for negative feedback and it seems overlooked that he also asked for positive too. Surprised there hasn't really been any.

I have a Black Swan (three piece recurve) that was made for me by Arvid. Super fast and quiet bow, overall, some of the fastest bows you will get your hands on. Arvid is a nice person to talk too and makes good quality bows. I ordered a second pair of limbs, they perform great but only had a problem with the limb weight, they were significantly off to what I asked for and is actually marked on the limbs. I just dont know why this happened, but I never tried to return them, so I kept them with that heavier weight.

I have been friends with Arvid for many years. He has always treated me well and I've helped deal with problems over the years. I have many bows from many bowyers and Arvid's are as good as anything out there.

It does help if you can meet the bowyer and shoot their bows before purchasing. I did and continue to stay in contact with Arvid. Also, the Black Swan today is different than it was 1.5 years ago let alone 3 years ago in riser design and more important the limbs. Todays limbs have 2 layers of carbon over ceramic verses 1 layer on my 1.5 yr. old hybrid limbs. Arvid continues to improve his product. I can attest that these are not delicate limbs (a couple of embarasing dry fires) and do not need to be treated any differently than you would another bow. They are a bow that people notice and I let as many that want to shoot mine and experience the shot from them.

I was on the ABS site for a different reason, but saw that the Nano came way down in price ($995). Any body have any input on the Carbon Nano Qn2?

Is it fast, quiet, smooth drawing and little to no hand shock?

Thanks
Gil

Gil, Joe Buck got a Nano 2 not long ago, I think he is liking it a lot. Here's what he had to say...
