I've been using a Bitz for 15 years ...always had a RW indexer and fletched straight fletch, rw helical, and lw helical with it by just adjusting the helical knobs. I bought a LW indexer to see if maximized my adjustment and there is absolutely zero difference. When I compare the 2 indexers side by side, I can't see any difference between them?
Did I just waste money or is there some appreciable difference that I'm missing?
I would call Bitzenburger and ask them. I have called them in the past and they are very helpful. You will get the right answer from the source.
Some will swear there is a difference, if there is it is lost on me. To me it is all about the clamp.

X2. Been using the standard (straight) nock receiver and right helical clamp for about 15 yrs with no issues
im like you I have both clamps and receivers but never switch the nock receiver
Amen on the Clamp!
There is a slight difference in how they clock the feathers. Lay two arrows on the fletch and you will be able to see a bit of difference in the nock angle.
For years, the standard or "Straight" indexer was all we had. The R and L indexers are actually a compound thing made to give better cable clearance with helical fletch.
X2 what Fletcher said. I can remember when the "new" indexers came out. At that time I was doing a lot of arrows for compound bows. Cable guards were yet to appear as standard on the bows. I have my straight Bltz setup with the "new" indexer but my right wing helical setup with old style indexer.
The new indexer was set for the 12-4-8 o'clock for compounds instead of 9- 1-5 o'clock. I have right jigs, left jigs and standard jigs of old and try as I may I can't find any difference in the indexers.
X3 what Fletcher said.
Bitz actually makes several indexers for different fletching styles. I have a few of the 12 o'clock/6 o'clock indexers and kind of like the 12 o'clock for 3 fletch. Black Widow recommends it.
The different indexers don't change how the fletch lays on the shaft, just how it clocks in relation to the nock.
"The different indexers don't change how the fletch lays on the shaft, just how it clocks in relation to the nock."
So...if you are using carbons, or another arrow that you can rotate the nocks on, it wouldnt matter right?

I never knew there were two indexers...this changes everything... :D
The only indexer offered that changes is the one for "TM Hunter" type rests for compounds. This indexer fletches the arrow one vane or feather in the "UP" or "Down" position for clearance. This way fellas who didn't shoot nocks that could be rotated, the vane/feather was aligned properly.
