A longtime staple in my line of bows I'm bringing the Chief back into production. Proven over the years, this bow has been a favorite model for many of my loyal customers and it's time to re-insert it into my line of longbows. A solid and stable hybrid longbow the Chief will provide another option for those considering my line of bows.
Allen
Good to hear. I love mine! Quiet, deadly, and thumps an arrow! Excellent bow.
I contacted Allen recently to see if he had a Chief that he might sell me in stock, as I knew he wasn't currently offering them. My first traditional bow was a Chief, and I really enjoy its shooting mannerisms. At my 26" draw that bow is about 41#. I got my first traditional deer with it, but I like to hunt with 52-54#. To my surprise Allen said he could make me one, if I wanted, and that he'd been considering bringing the Chief back in to production. I ordered a Chief, and have had it for about a week now. The one day a month that I have a meeting in San Antonio my wife, Jill, calls and says "your bow's here!" so I could sit in the most maddening traffic, drumming on the steering wheel, trying to get home. On any other day I could throw a rock to my office, well, maybe I couldn't, but Doug Flutie could throw a rock to my office... it's close! Here are some photos of my new Chief. It really is a special bow that is as pretty as it is a joy to shoot. The kind of bow you shoot until it gets dark, and only come in because supper is ready.

Chase, Fine bow I'm sure Ken is looking down with a big ol grin..
Glad to hear that, Allen. It's my favorite Liberty design. Hmmmmm. Looks like I'll have to start saving my pennies again.
good! glad you brought it back, ive shot a few of them and really liked each one.
Love the woods in it..Is that Myrtle?
How does the Chief compare to the Contender?
Wow! That is a pretty bow.
ttt
Beautiful...can't go wrong with one of Allen's bows.
I have the Edge model, what is the difference between the Chief and Edge? Thanks
Nice looking bow Chase.
Very Nice
Can we see a strung up profile picture please?
Thank you for the compliments everyone.
Keefer; it is a myrtle riser and veneers with yew core. I don't know if it's an advantage of being located in the Pacific Northwest, but I've bought three bows from Allen and the black myrtle is always exceptional.
Here is a braced photo at 7 1/8".

That is one fine looking bow, the Mytle is very nice, good choice.
My Chief has been given a workout this month. My poor English has been hanging. Lonely Thanks, Allen, for these exceptional working pieces of art.
The Chief falls between the Contender and the Edge. I would classify it as a mild hybrid longbow. When I introduced the Edge the Chief was shelved because I didn't think I need two hybrid models. I came across a glued up Chief in my old shop which I hadn't finished, made it into a bow and realized it was a pretty good shooter.
The woods in the bow Chase posted photos of are myrtle in the riser, veneers and a yew core. When Chase told me that he was ordering the bow in memory of Ken I looked through my shop and found just enough wood to build him a special bow. It's been tucked away in my shop for 20+ years waiting for this special occasion.
Allen
I have a Chief that Allen made me a few years ago. Love that bow! Just the right amount of r/d in my mind, and a good grip.
I recently acquired a Liberty Chief in trade from Orion. What a wonderful bow! She's 64" 52@28. Right now she's looking to be my go-to whitetail bow this fall. Couldn't be happier!
I picked up a used Chief last year. Ebony riser and bamboo and yew limbs. Fast, very quiet, and very accurate. One of the best bows I've ever shot and will never part with it.
is it a mild reflex deflex.
It is a mild RD bow slightly past a true D shape.
Glad you like that one Pokerdaddy. I still have one left, a tad lighter. Don't think I'll ever be parting with that one.
I have owned or own 5 Liberty longbows , and my mates have owned quite a few Chief's and Contenders.
I can quite unreservedly say that Allen Boice is a great bowyer and fine fine gentleman to do business with .
He goes beyond and upwards to keep the customer happy, and his build quality is the best I have ever seen , his use of woods exemplary and his customer service the very best in the business.

55# All yew 68" "English" ...... one sweet sweet accurate and shock free straight limb longbow ...
Absolutely stand out build and bow performance .
double post
We have one of each of Allen's bows in our family. My 60" chief elite with yew core has been my go to bow for years. The 66" English gave me my first traditional harvest, a spike elk at 8' (feet). Great bows! And a great design that draws to my almost 31" with out stacking.
Thank you Allen!
Beautiful, Once again I will say that when I think fit and finish Allens bows immediately come to mind. No one builds a nicer finished bow. I have looked at a lot and owned several and to a bow the build is exceptional.
God bless, Steve
 Another great bow built by one of the "good guys".
I recently came into the possession of a Contender with bamboo limbs and ebony riser. 55# @ 28#. Great workmanship and I get many nice compliments on it's looks.
An elegant looking bow that draws smooth and hits like a hammer in the target bag. I plan on hunting with it this year.
I met Allen this summer at the Colorado Trad.shoot I have been shooting an English for several years , love it, hopefully I just bought a chief off the classifieds. chief elite 64"56@28.
