Title: Broadhead choice for Hill style bow...
Post by: threeunder on July 26, 2013, 10:07:00 PM
I'm working on my hunting setup with a couple of Northern Mist bows (Classic and Shelton).
Both of these bows are 52#@28" and I draw 27".  A setup that is shooting really well for me is AD Trad Lites with 100 gr inserts and 250 gr. broadheads which comes in at just under 670 gr.
VPA Terminators and Penetrators are shooting equally well.
My question is for hogs will these setup be enough to push the 3 blade Terminator through to where it needs to be?  or should I stick with the 2 blade Penetrator?
Thoughts?

I've never tried those, but I've shot a few with 160 snuffers with a similar setup. I draw a little further(29) but I don't think youll have any problems.

Ken, this guy fell to a 190 gr Terminator on a Sitka Spruce shaft, from a 54 @ 26 Pronghorn.  Total arrow weight was about 620 as I recall.  Entered behind last rib and stopped in the opposite shoulder.  I would have confidence in either broadhead, just make it SHARP.

Ken,

I'm playing around with some woodie combos for my Toelke Super D.  Wish me luck - first wood arrow experiences!
